Heroic

Game is very buggy.

CBS isnt compatible with most things i wanna use.
game crashes after its been encrypted.
lots of lag on main maps, anti lag scripts dont help.
i seldom have time to work on it, so i spend most time "relearning stuff"
sorry, but game is dead now.
 
Love what you have done with the menu. Your thread is beatifully set out (for the most part) and it seems that you are quite talented with garphics, if you did them yourself in any case.

you may even find yourself partaking of less savory tasks, such as robbing the wealthy or Assassinating important military enemies.

Doesn't sound too Heroic to me :P

I look forward to seeing more of this!
 
Thread art and menu art are all done by me. Anything such as facesets or charsets are not. I'm not talented at such things.

Everything looks like it's put together relatively well, I honestly see nothing wrong with what you've currently thrown out there, haha. The story's been done before, but you know, I can see your game totally throwing it in a totally different direction, I'm kind liking your mapping, not too shabby. Keep it up.

I'm sorda a jack-of-all-trades-that-aren't-scripting.
I can do a bit of everything, but I'm good at none of it.

I know the story is a bit trite, but I like it.

I'm thinking of adding the ability to lead the country to
ruin rather than save it. It would count as a failure,
cause that wouldn't be heroic, but it would be a cool
feature to try out at least once.

A couple questions I'd like to ask whoever can tell me...

On the save screenshot, it says "Which file would you like to save to?"
I'd like to change that to something shorter, but I'm not sure how.
I'm using Moghunters End and File scripts, and also SephirothSpawns "Gameover To Inn" script. None of the places I've seen where it shows that phrase did anything when I changed it. I'm an idiot when it comes to scripting.

I'm in need of a moghunter compatible menu script. I will be using maps like items, where you go into the list of maps found and choose which one to follow (it would display similar to a mini-map until you changed it). This would be accessed via the menu (see screenshot below). This isn't an actual request, just looking for ideas or possible existing scripts.

and a very noob script question...
can any one familiar with SephirothSpawns "Gameover to Inn" script tell me where in the script to set the teleport location? ...Or do I set it with an event or something in game? ::confused::

I'm gonna try to have a demo out towards the end of the month.
I've got a lot of mapping and eventing to do first tho.

I really like the layout, and the menus, but I don't like the map in the screen.....You may want to pay more atention to what you're doing unless that's just a crappy map for some reason.....You should make a decent map for your thread

(probably is seeing as how its a mock.....)
 
I dont see anything wrong with my mapping, but thanks for being so blunt. Those are all just random areas from the 200x200 map i'm currently working on.

As per your request, I will pay more attention cause appearantly my maps are crappy.
 
I actually don't think the maps are that bad. Plus, I like the look and feel of this so far. You have a nice way of showing off your game. Very good start.

I could pro'ly do better mapping if I was working on smaller maps, but working on big maps take forever and sometimes the quality does pay the price.
I'm trying not to let that be the case.

I'm trying to stay productive as much as I can here, but its a slow process as we all know.

I'll be updating the first thread about once a week or so.
My first update will pro'ly be to show the upgraded message window.
Its not made yet, but the one in the screens is just a beta, and not exactly right. Still playing with ideas on that one.

I'd like to ask for some opinions here, if I can... Near's SBABS should be a great system for having "Tools" like in "Wild Arms" series (IE, one char uses bombs, another a lighter, etc). Would this be a good and useful addition to Heroic or a meaningless distraction? Heroic will already have many puzzles that require your chars to split up to solve them. Just asking for an opinion or two. Thanks.

I tried to get my characters to split up to do puzzles for that SBASB and I couldn't sort it out, but if you've got it sorted then I'd love to try this out - and I think the tools idea sounds fun if youa ctually use the characters abilities.
 
Yeah, I've been playing with it the last few days and having lots of trouble with scripts conflicting and causing small bugs. I'm thinking of switching over to "Samo the theif" Advanced Real Time Battle System, but it looks real confusing. I'm not sure. In the meantime I'm concentrating more on art and storyline stuff.

Had to rebuild "Heroic" from the ground up.
*Updated first post with new info and menu screenshots
(no in-game screens yet tho, havent started re-mapping)

With the exception of some database work and mapping, It's done. New mapping will pro'ly go much faster tho, Big maps took me forever.

I decided to get rid of the SBABS and the mog menu systems. I was having lots of problems with various scripts I was using.

My next task is to decide on my new battle system and getting it installed. Then just mapping, mapping, mapping. lol

The game isn't cancelled and I havent abandoned it, i'm just taking a break.
I'm selling my house and moving to another state, so i'm otherwise occupied.
 
Bumping my game thread.  I had to take some time off to do other things.  I'm just now getting started back on my game this week.  I completely redid the original post.  I updated more information and reorganized it.    In a day or two, i intend to update with better screenshots. 
 
Wow! This game is looking great!!  I love the GUI and custom systems you've done! I'm glad to see that you've returned to working on this project! :D Look forward to seeing more updates!
 
Hey, thanks for the comment.  i intended to make some new screenies today, and got caught up working on the credits and game opening and didnt get it done.    I'll try tomorrow to get them made.    :)    glad you like what you see.  I'm proud of how its coming together so far.
