Help with HK

Its not so bad, you may wanna shade a little were the mouth would be, round out the shading upwards on the hat. Which direction is the light source supposed to be coming from.

the light should be coming form the left/lower left. i know i haven't made the mouth yet, bt somehow the dress looks ugly. i don't know how to fix that. =/ thanks fot the advice anyway

Well, the main thing you need to do is learn to dither to show cloth. Showkaizer is a veritable master at this - take a look at this - it's his workshop, and it should give you a few tips on dithering cloth.

The dress is too narrow. And your preliminary lines are not consistent. Especially in places where they should be. As well your perspective is off. But all in all, it is a decent start.

Always do your outline BEFORE you begin to shade. Once you feel confident the outline is consistent and accurate, as well as exhibiting the correct perspective, then carry on. I hope this picture helps.

Also, there are some terrific tutorials on this site to aid the fledgling spriter. Specifically, I would recomend this one.

Don't be discouraged. And keep working on it. ^__^

so this is how it looks now, much better than before. but still...i think the outline is way too strong...what should i do?

Ok your outlines are very dark, try to lighten them up.
Remember think of outlines as an extra shades.

Those folds are way too defined and dark.

I think you need another shade or two in your palette. To much contrast.

The cloak/cape, whatever, looks a little stiff at the arms. It should probably curve in around the top of the arms more or stay behind the arms completely. Don't for get to shade the skin if it's going to be covered.
Also the shading looks inconsistent. Notice how the theres a big shadow on the top right part of the clothing, but theres hardly any shadow on the lower right part of the clothing. Plus the highlights on the lower part makes it look like the light source is coming from the ground, and if the light is coming from the left then the cloak should be casting a shadow on the left side as well.
I would leave the top piece alone and redo the lower part. Folds shouldn't stretch across the whole thing unless you were indicating there are three layers of clothing, each layer on top of another.
