Help: Webpages and Microsost Office

I am trying to make a webpage using Microsoft Office 2007 I was wondering how do you transfer that onto a web host once it is finished. Also I heard that when you do transfer it the layout is jumbled and not how you made it originally is this true? if so how do you fix the problem thank you

It wouldn't be the transfer that jumbles the layout it would be the shitty html coding microsoft office slaps on it.  To upload something to a host you either need to use an ftp client to manage the uploads or access via a webpanel to your ftp.  Client's are pretty simple though and there are a lot of free ones out there.

Explain what you mean by "Microsoft Office".  Are you using Word or FrontPage?  Word is a terrible decision.  FrontPage is just a bad decision.

I'm a huge fan of Notepad++, it's SCiTE based, great customizable syntax highlighting for almost any programming language known to man, REGEXP-based search and replace, and takes plugins. There are plugins for FTP, a filesystem explorer, the ability to search multiple files, and a debug plugin that basically turns it into an IDE, another that will pick out all the functions or methods in a piece of code and provide you a nice list you can jump to, and a bunch of other stuff. It's totally unbeatable.

Nothing that Microsoft produces is good for web development, nothing. Frontpage is a miserable WYSIWYG editor, really bottom of the pack even below other software like Dreamweaver and GoLive!. If you're starting from there it's likely going to be a long road to getting something functional on the web.

The recent versions of Dreamweaver use infinitely cleaner code than Microfost Word (it's not perfect at all, but it's SO MUCH NICER). Dreamweaver has a "CLEAN UP WORD HTML" function so if you're using Microsoft Word to design your sites (which is seriously not a good idea to begin with) then I'd suggest you think about throwing them in Dreamweaver and having it clean them up a bit for you.

Yeah I do admit Dreamweaver has come a long way, but it still bungles things and leads to sloppy design compared to just writing the code yourself. Any of the other WYSIWYG editors are monstrous though, and 10 years behind the times in terms of proper code structure. Fixed the link in above post, that's what I get for writing when I'm tired.

I've used up to CS3 and never been impressed. I actually uninstalled it from my CS3 package. Like other WYSIWYG editors, it's addicted to inline styling, approximation, and often inelegant solutions to simple problems out of convenience. Some of the older versions build really horrible table layouts with spacer gifs and other monstrosities held over from the last decade, I'm dealing with such a case right now while revamping and finishing development on the backend of a proprietary cms and it's a disaster. These apps are fine for people who are making their own little personal websites, but they are really a joke for professional use even though a majority of sites are developed using them these days, which is ironic considering the price puts them way out of the range of a hobbyist. The cost of using a WYSIWYG in the long run is much greater than the cost of paying a real developer to do the job right the first time. Which is fine by me since I'm getting paid to fix the problems it caused, but still. : )
