Help! RPG XP Crashes on startup!

My RPG Maker XP closes evertime I try to start it! I am using a Vista. Evertime I double click the icon to start it, this message shows up:

I used to have been able to use RPG Maker XP, but then it began doing this. It won't even show the splash for the game! If I just double click it, that message shows up. I really need this because the functions of the game help me, such as the way the game can make one color of any picture transparent, useful for use on large sprite sheet where you can't just delete the colors manually. Anyways, before it was usable, now its not. I've tried reinstalling, editing registry files, removing certain files, and anything else you can think of! Please help with this. If you need anymore information, please do ask.

Restart your computer 1st than try it again.

if it still doesn't work than just reinstall.

Actually, this began happening probably a few months ago. I didn't remember to post on here until today. I am pretty sure a restart won't help. Anyone else want to help me? I really like RPGXP, not RPGVX. :sad:

Did you read the rest of their post, or get stuck at the image? They tried both already.

In response to the author: Have you recently installed any new software? HAve you recently updated something like the .net framework? There are several things in the realm of possibility. As best I can tell there is something that recently changed on your computer that has rendered RMXP to execute, and it is probably either a program incompatability, or something wrong with one of the basic frameworks of Windows.

Hmm! I did install .net Framework 3.5 to get some of my other programs to work. Is there any fix besides uninstalling .net framework? I did install that a long time ago, too. I think that I installed it about a month after RPGXP stopped working, though.

If you installed it a month after RMXP stopped working, it isn't the problem. It would have to be something that happened right before the program stopped working.

You already mentioned that you have Vista. It should work, but there must have been something that changed.

Huh. I guess I did mention it. I'm still not recalling anything new during the time it began failing. I do have one more thing that could be the problem, but it has been working even when I got it, and it doesn't work even if I take it out. Also, I don't think I'm allowed to discuss it.

hello?? I really need help!!! Also, even if I try playig any games that I've made, it still doesn't work. Instead of it saying RPG Maker XP has stopped working, it says RGSS has stopped working. I can't open up RPG Maker XP, and I can't play any premade games!!!!! HELP!!!!!!! I am going CRAZY!!!!! :pissed: :pissed:

Why do you have two PSI key's? one of them says (real) I don't get it. I don't have that. Not sure if that's what's causing your problem. On a second note. Did you ever install RTP102? Not sure if that will effect anything. It makes me think that Scripts are the problem cause it says RGSS isn't working instead of Rpg maker. RGSS stands for Ruby Game Scripting System If all else fails. I know this sounds drastic. But you might want to try system restore and go back a month :crazy:

Please don't kill me for saying this, but, I have two PSI keys because it gives me the full game, not the trial. I'm sorry but money was tight, economy is bad, we've had problems, so please don't kill me or ban me! But yeah, the (real) one is the actual one which came with the trial. The other one is the cracked version.

I tried making it use the real one, but still to no success.

The RPG Maker XP has encountered a problem error only shows up when I try opening the program or a game WIP. The RGSS error occurs when trying to open up the game to play/test it from the little orange gear-like icon.

I've gotten too much done on this computer w/in the past few months to restore it. Isn't there another way? I beg you! Help! :angel:

This is karma telling you that you've done something bad , most likely a bad crack. :> Bad times, but thats most likely your problem you should have said this earlier and if its not the problem just buy it, its fairly cheap.

Hah lol. Well I've tried removing the crack and even reinstalling the regular trial, but still nothing. Also, I doub they sell it at stores, and my stupid internet connection sucks so I can no longer buy it online and download it. Anything else?

Actually, considering the fact that RMXP won't work on my brother's Vista machine, even though it has a legal key, means it probably was something else. I've never been able to solve this error, for whatever reason. (In fact, it gives the exact same error message)

Nope, it's a Pentium. It is probably some software, or an update to Vista, or something along those lines.
