Hello!
I have no history with RPG maker or it's community. I do however come from a game development community. I used to make levels for various first person shooters.
I found these forums through Google! Huzzah!
I hope to get answers and advices and maybe a tutorial or two (already bookmarked a couple).
Out side of RPG maker I make digital paintings in photoshop.
My hobbies and interests are game design, playing first person shooters in competition, and a lot of other stuff.
I listen to lots of electronic music, some ambient, some metal, and no rap or country.
I am in college. Unfortunately I am going to college mainly to stay on my parents health insurance but I am taking a few art courses.
Why I bought RPG Maker XP

Ever since map creation tools started shipping with games like the Unreal Tournament series or Warcraft 3 I was spending lots of time making levels and such. As technology progressed I was soon creating lots of custom content for my levels and having dreams of creating entire games. In 2004 I decided that I really wanted a job in the game industry. After many disappointments and set backs I was searching for a studio to work at. I was having trouble because I wanted to work on a game genre I liked, I had to find a place on the east coast, and I had to agree with the company's outlook on the game industry. After toiling with a FPS project on a free engine I really thought about making my own game company. I bought RPG maker to make a high quality game which I might be able to use to start my company.

P.S I just found out about RPG Maker VX today I would have bought that one! I figure there isn't that much different. Oh well I'll get it later.
