Hello and Question about a maker

hey everyone new here but not really to the maker scene, but i have been out of practice for awhile...was thinking of getting back into the swing of things and to incorporate some new techniques I've picked up in my absence :haha:

but before i jump back into rpgmaker i was just looking to see if anyone knew what happened to this maker called game maker express i think...i've been searching google but i cant find anything on it anymore, like it just dissapeared lol but i did save a few pictures from the site a few weeks ago.

after looking at my pictures again it seems to be called express game maker lol...seems pretty cool

from what i can make it there

it seems to take rpgmakers point and click simplicity but helped out the user with pictures...i would always get lost in the eventing window of rpgmaker with all that text

theres apparently a particle effect editor maker included

skin maker

and collision boxes! they seems to be drawn as needed and dont look like they're confined to shapes which would make for some very interesting events... :thumb:

im interested in this and want to know what else is included...wouldnt be surprised if it didnt take alot of work to make an action battle system going from the fact they know what users want and have used the rpg series before :box:

but if anyone has any information on this let me know please!

never heard of it. there've been a lot of halfbaked maker projects that started out from ambitious kids who just learned a little c++, then collapse because they don't have the gumption to follow through all the way. it's a shame, but it's pretty much perfectly in line with rpg maker itself.

as far as things you've mentioned (hitboxes, particle effects, etc.), these are all native features of Game Maker, which is a versatile little number that runs on a faster, more powerful engine than rpg maker. however, the "point and click simplicity" you mentioned isn't quite there; it's rather simple to make an action game, but it has no built-in framework for stats and damage calculation, so if you wanted to deal with something as relatively complicated as an RPG, you'd be doing a lot more initial work than with rm. of course, this pays off later with the insane versatility and degree of control you have, but I wouldn't recommend Game Maker to a beginner looking to make an RPG. it's just something to keep in mind for later, I guess.

p.s. hi

yea i've tried game maker and understood it completely...the site had a video up of express game maker showing some of the features

oh it also included little things like pixel movement built in...thats why i say i'd rather use this maker, its the little things that count :)

and thanks for the welcome

thanks everyone, but it was express game maker...im sure its still in production because it was nearing completion when i last spotted it...i scavenged another picture also, still cant find a video on it though...

That looks like an exact clone of RPG Maker XP to be honest.

how does it look like a clone? im 100% sure xp, vx or even agm doesnt have customizable collision boxes. the mapping seems to have layered events also going by the picture. instead of one layer for events...so forgive when i say that you cant read between the lines
