Harry Potter Book 7 Cover Art Revealed!

The cover art for the US edition of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has been released as well as the covers of both the UK Adult and Children's editions of the book. They can be viewed here.

I think it probly it a marketing tool. Adult are more likely to buy and read a book that looks like it was written for adults than one that looks only a couple steps abovee Dr. Seuss

Seems to me that US people would apprecieate it more...

and why make a childrent book in the first place?

Why not have a universal cover for all the books? (the US one looks the best)

Same reason as why square enix censored loads of stuff from ff6 when it went to the us. The world seems to think the us is full of religious people who die at the usage of swearing :-/
The US cover does look good, but the uk one was the original and there's a sort of theme with the uk harry potters.

It's marketing. In America they have the "Teenage" Harry Potter versions. They're appealing, but they barely advertise it and I think they've stop trying to make them.

Anyway, the idea behind the adult book was back when Harry Potter wasn't as popular and it was trying to market itself to all groups. The idea, as hmaddict said, is that adults are more likely to buy a less kiddie looking book. Surprised they haven't stopped recently though as adults still buy the "child's" edition.

I don't the think the adult covers were even brought in until it had already become popular. The idea is that the child's cover appeals to children, and the adult one is less embarassing. I always got the adult ones.

The only real difference is that the adult version has a different cover at a more expensive price, nothing else about it.
