Unfortunately. I was so happy that I've managed to stay away from all of the Halo 3 hype and haven't watched any released videos of it yet, I was pretty much certain I'd play it fresh the first time with no knowledge of what happens since it's so close to release date. I opened this thread cuz - being that I purposely don't watch or read anything from insiders who have played the campaign - I had no idea that Halo was released/leaked to the public early, so I was not expecting major spoilers, ESPECIALLY the damn ending spoilers with no spoiler tags whatsoever.Mega Flare;284438 said:

does it really matter? No one is going to play halo 3 for its most likely crappy Story mode, people play it for its addicting mulitplayer

It was released in the UK early and actually SOLD to some individuals on the day of the mistake. I've taken Wednesday off work so me and my cousin can once again battle our way through another Bungie great.
I also spotted this comment that somebody left in reply to the article :
That's fucking rediculous! Sure it could be a security measure incase people have managed to get a bootleg copy or whatever, But just imagine if people's accounts have been banned because of. Imagine how you'd feel.

They're not banning accounts if you play Halo 3 early. They were going to, until the Argos mistake.

I am SO disappointed in this game..well the single player anyway. It's been hyped as the end to the Halo story... is it hell. The end is just.. well ... it isn't an end. I'm not gonna go spoiling anything incase someone still hasn't finished it and doesnt wanna know the ending... but.. damn, Bungie.. you suck.
Multiplayer is good. No denying that.
Theatre <<< see that?! 're' at the end -_- they coulda changed that for the uk >.> Well Theater's good too, but I just think they added that in there to milk 'Red Vs Blue' a bit more.
Forge .. yet to see anything good come from this, it just seems a waste.. please, anyone prove me wrong.

I thought this campaign was the best of the three. It was much more epic, had much bigger battles, and was just overall more fun.
The multiplayer is really good, and in my opinion combines the best from both Halo 1 and Halo 2.

yeah, but even after the credits.. t's like they're hinting at yet another Halo or some spinoff using Arbiter.

That's exactly what I hate about Halo. It's nothing special, and it's just the same repetitive stuff you see in every other FPS out there, but what the hell makes this game so damn good?
I honestly think the Halo series is nothing but the most overrated game out there, worse than FF7!

This is the thing, it's not better than games like Unreal Tournament. But Unreal Tournament was a PC game. Consoles haven't really had a lot of solid FPS games. Halo is a solid FPS, with the weird physics and varied guns that made Unreal Tournament fun. Sure UT2000 has done more than Halo has done in any of it's three games, but Halo as been advertised to death, built upon it's own success, and was pretty fun.
Oh and Halo 2 introduced that matchmaking thing I think. Or at least was one of the first to actually do it well. Where you were matched with people that were as good as you (usually), and it didn't take forever / take a lot of user input.
To sum up, no, the halo games aren't just the greatest thing under the sun, but they're pretty great for console FPS fare. They fill that science-fiction unrealistic niche that's apparently pretty popular.

Yeah, I have a gaming PC as well as a 360. The reason I think halo games online are so good is because they just feel so solid, and so fast-paced. You just feel like you have perfect control over it...and it has such a nice variety of game types, vehicles, weapons, etc. In my opinion, it is much more fun than games like Call of Duty, or Battlefield.
Unlike other PC games which have good multiplayer, halo has a good single player as well, and an actual story. I've never played a more fun campaign than Halo 3 with four player cooperative...it's a blast.
Halo 3 is also a really beautiful game. At least, it looks way better than Halo 2, despite what people say. Halo 2 looked like crap. But, of course, if you're not playing on HDTV, then it's not going to look good at all, just like any other game.

And Halo 3 is pretty nice looking. Probably because Bungie hired like 200 artists (inside and out) for the direction it took. Technically the game isn't graphically impressive at all compared to some other next-gen stuff, but this is probably a good thing. Instead of making the game look as shiny as Bioshock or something, they let a lot of garbage happen on screen without killing the frame rate (least not that I've noticed).
It's Halo 2.75. Where Halo 2 was only an actual sequel because of the online-multiplayer.
Oh and forge is relatively fun. Dropping exploding barrels on people from the sky makes for a decent time. Funnest thing I've found to do though is a game type of infinite potato mashers and infinite hammers and just do a free for all.
