Half Kaizer Side View. Need help.

Okay, so I got the new template for Minkoff's battlers, and decided my older battlers looked like total trash so I went ahead and started drawing the first frame onto one the templates.

The sprite I'm doing this for is a recolor of one of the thieves from the RTP, but I can't draw by hand. I'm finding it easy to do by pixel in GIMP zoombed in at 800% though. :D

Heres what I got so far, and compared to the original sprite.

Which version looks better? Left or right?

Anyways, I need some serious help or ideas, C&C etc. on the pants. I'm not entirely finished with this frame, because those pants just look kinda meh.

Anybody got some C&C?

Appears as if you actually recollored portions of the sprite. Try creating actual clothes.

... i could help you out with the colour thing if you want...i have a way of making it so you can use all the colours... but we'd have to talk about it on MSN er sumthin... whats yer MSN screen name? do you have one?

I can't make clothes, I'm not good at this. This is only my first time, I'm hoping to get better.

you may want to work on the clothes attributes abit more... the hair is perfect... VERY well done... but his clothes look skin tight... where as i think he should have an over shirt and semi-baggy pants...

I agree with you on the baggy pants part, but I actually like the tight look of the shirt he has.

I need to find some examples, or at least a tutorial.

well... he DOES have a default battler correct? cuz he's a recolour? and you can find some different versions of the default battler here...

I meant for clothing on a HK Side View battler, the default battlers provide little help.

ah... THATS where you have to get creative... cuz there's not alot of Kaizer battlers out there...

There are two different versions, the first has more baggier clothing while still maintaining the skin tight t-shirt. The other semi-baggy pants with the tight shirt. Don't mind the half on/off knife, I did this in a hurry.

Which one looks better?

Well, as for references to sprite clothing, I think looking at the Side-views of some half-kaizers might help.

First two frames, I've really only been working on them. The frames seem to jump a bit, but I'd like other peoples' opinions.

What do you guys think?
