Plot Synopsis
This isn't in much of a novels format, and I'm quickly rushing this, just giving you a taste of the storyline.


"Hand hovering above his sword, the nervous marine ran into the dark forest. The burgeoning heavy leaves, bent, covering the light from the sky. With quick, hard pants, Vrost skittered through. His violet hair flying wild in the wind, his eager dark eyes searching for tracks, trails. A whiz flashed past his head followed by a loud thud. Arcing his neck, he leaped into the undergrowth. A Rough scarred hand searched blindly for his crossbow strapped to his back, ripping it out, he quickly attached a sharper, A deadly Quon explosive, to the already connected quarrel. A swift turn, and hell was let loose."

The story is based in the continent of Vaelund. There are many stories, myths, legends other truth, discerning the past. Some say there was one God, the creator. Others say there were many. However, what is sure is, the fact that there were Eleven Spirits. Eleven spirits gifted with the power of Creation. Mael, Errant, Voctir, Roden and many more. The spirits had met once, in the dark oblivion, only their conciousness a light dwindling in the dark. Echoes whispered through unending infinity and finally a choice was made. Matter was created. Through their imagination, the threads of reality came to pass, the images of beauty, of perfection mirrored, stained. However, beauty was disputed, and there were those who did not agree. For Mael, slender and intelligent, fashioned a Race of Light, of purity. Roden, the angry god, fashion a dark race, a Race of Anger. Errant, the glorious, the valourious, he fashioned upon his image, the Race of Valour. And in the dark caves of ambition, where the air stank of mortality and death, Errant created the Humans.


So the days passed, the centuries, the millenia. And the spirits fought to govern on the heaven they had created. The races had grown in power, and after worshipping the spirits that had created them, they had also loathed to rule. So the four spirits were banished, the other seven, well nothing is known about them. The world was ruled under the iron fist of humanity, each race was sent scowering into their homelands, hiding. Eventhough the Humans lived a golden age, an age full of splendor, where Kings wore glittering crowns and Knights fought great wars, it was prophecised that the end was near.

Vrost (Name can be changed)
------
A Marine in the 51st Legion, he joined through the last years of the war. Although only taken part in a few sieges, battles and various skirmishes he is, as shown, a formidable marine mastering the basics. However, even though he has potential, this cool headed soldier still needs alot of experience. From his recruitment records he was born somewhere in the city slums of Y'Ghatan, in the seven cities continent. His military nickname is fiddler, that is most probally because he always carries a fiddle with him in his equipment, even though he is unable to use it.

Helen
------
A Young Heavy infantry in the 51st Legion, 5ft 7. Deep set green eyes. Thin brows, beautiful. However, really dark and cruel, doesn't get along well with her squad mates. Playable in the latter chapters and is one of your party members for some time. Enjoys mutiliation, deadly in combat. Trained in the arts of necromancy, however she is primarly a knife user, both melee and ranged, which is rather different considering she is a Heavy Infantry Woman.

Jindle
------
51st Legion General, almost always drunk, however when sober a Tactical master, when drunk a Tactical Genuis. Loved by all of his troop and deeply respected. Has fairly short black hair, dark eyes. Almost always wears his battle uniform. 5ft 7. Playable, however many quests can be recieved from him, he is also one of the main characters in the plot. Although at first simply seen as a genuis general, there is more to this old veteran than meets the eye. Has conducted most of the Bridgeburners dangerous almost sucidal missions and campaigns. Without him, the 51st Legion would be nothing.

Errant
------
The God. The one worshipped by humans, and the same one that made them. Although only a spirit, the power of blood sacrifices has given him power to form a body. Although banished as the four spirits were, he still dwindles in the chasms of the earth. Perhaps the main character in the plot, his dark, evil plots of power and greed will be more than apparant throughout the story.


[More characters]


51st legion commonly called the bridgeburners are part of a border patrol. After what could be a decade without a war these hardy veterans suddenly get ambushed by hordes of Chaos Demons, Orc grunts and various battalions of Devils. The 51st Legion was slaughtered, destroyed each troop was either wounded or dead. Vrost, your main character roams around for weeks looking for help, wounded and greatly weakened. You start the game as Vrost on the Forest of Twilight, nearing the Marine Garrison of K'tor your eager to find out what has happened and to join in the war effort. However, it isn't as simple as that. Not only are their political aims behind the raids and the ambushes, no, more is at play here than meets the eye.




What will be so different about this game?
This game, unlike most RMXP games will allow you to do as you please. With thousands of miles to explore of the wonderful world Vaelund, the hours of playability will be countless. Similiar to MMORPGs this game will have secret areas, places, many side quests, full range NPCvNPC Wars and Intelligent NPCs. Taming will be implemented, this will allow animals to follow you help you out, you may also ride animals.

Hundreds of skills you can use in an ABS enviroment, explosives, detonators and powerful sorcery all induced into this juicy jam packed game. Interactive NPCs intelligent Mobs, and social Mobs as well will make playing this game a complete joy. And because you have a choice whether to choose the path of Glory, path of Evil or the Path of a simple life each one with a multitude of quests and longitivity, this game will be more than playable.

There will also be a quest hall, where you can collect quest points, these quest points can be used for many things like buying equipment armour, unlocking items and more quests. They can be exchanged for quests. You will also recieve titles based on you quest points.

GAME TIME: UNLIMITED
Why? Well because not only does the storyline ever truly end, this is because the world of HAVEN is like our world, ever changing. NPCs will be able to capture, defend and attack towns. Actually NPCs die and never come back. Super Hard dungeons, Puzzles, Bosses all there to defeat, secret areas only found through hours of exploration.

You keep earning skills, requisition, reputation, knowledge with every second you play. And even if you have completed the storyline, you wont have collected everything. Not only are you able to purchase houses and shops, you as a marine will climb ranks, General, Officer, Adjunct and many more. The world of Haven is Endless.


Unlike other game, you dont precisely choose your own class, it is dependant on the moves you use and especially on the equipment. For example, if you were to create a tank, you would use the following
Doom Heavy  This has Adv:High defense   Disadv:Low dex
Halberd Adv:Area of Effect damage   Disadv: Low attack speed.

This gives alot more maliability to the game and to the paths YOU[\b] choose.

There are also extra items called "dyes" that can be added to your armour. Each having effects like:
+1 STR / -1 WIS  (Purple Dye)


You can actually gain stat points by hunting down specific monsters for The Hunters Guild, they will pay you in exchange for its hide/teeth/claws/eyes/blood samples and you have a choice to improve a stat depending on the mission they've given you

This isn't like most weapon augmentation, basicly to augment your weapon you must first have an augmentable weapon, it will say in the weapons description whether you can do that or not. Secondly, you must find a Blood Stone, these can either be mined or found from monsters and enemy NPCs. Each blood stone has a level, there are four levels. The higher the level, the higher the chance you get an augmentation. There are various augmentations for your weapon, these include:-
1."Sonic Power" (Speed Increase)
2."Brawn of the Trolls" (Strength Increase)
3."Bring In the Money" (Price Increase)


and so on.

Future Aims


Hopefully, although i'm currently alone in this project, I might be able to meet with some school mates to discuss the game and together we can up the speed a bit in development. I will also contemplate releasing a completely bug free demo to keep your insatiable appetites at bay.

The game right now, seems to be heading towards shareware, as I am currently only 14, school is taking a huge haul on me plus I have other hobbies including Graphics Design, this mean I cant completely re-model the RTP set unless you want this game released in a few years time. So it will be using the RTP set, there is also a good amount of Code not created by me, these currently include:
Prexus Craft
Mo's HUD

So when I say shareware I mean, donations are accepted however, the game is free to download and play. BUT donators recieve extra perks. I have a few ideas, these perks may include Extra levels, skills, places etc. or Removal of Ads if any. However, the donations mantel will be exceptionally low, starting from 5 dollars to infinity. However, what you get in return is more than worth it. But I'ld like this discussed and I want to see YOUR ideas on how it should be released.

QUESTIONS I'LD LIKE YOU TO ANSWER!

Would it be better if we used custom made Breeze sprites? This will make the game alot more enjoyable HOWEVER it will make the release date even more late. But whats your verdict?



Important Information

Before the game is released, there will be a Manga which will sum up the first chapter of the storyline. Drawn by me and hopefully edited by members from my GFX forum, this will really get your tummies hungry for more Haven!

A small cinematic, just showing Vrosts Squad being ambushed, I think it's badly done and I might remove it, but I'll see your thoughts when I release the demo. This is, after all, my first game.

UPDATE

This is called the V.02 Demo, because only 0.02% of the game is done xD. I'm not too happy giving away a sort of tech demo since it might dismay some of the fans, however, this is not what the current game is, this is an older version. I felt it was clean enough with not too many errors but if you do find any tell me. There isn't much of a storyline in the demo, just some maps to explore, things to get, people to talk to and find a bit more of the story. It's hardly playable for more than 5 minutes. And there are many things I'ld like to change before the game is completed like the title screen and the cinematic.

Alot of bugs found in the demo, they're actually just errors. In the mapping and in some events. The taming system isn't fully working and there are mapping errors here and there.

Updates from V.01

Changed the window skin to something new, custom made. Hopefully will change the GUI too. Checked a few errors and bugs, enjoy!
 
Oh my god. I'm reporting this for movement to the main thread, you are more then ready to be set in the (in progress) area.

Besides using default RTP sprites, everything here is amazing.

Keep up the great work. You are lightyears ahead of most ppl here.

Hahaha sorry, I wanted more views. Anyway, I said they're placement sprites. They're not the end sprites obviously RTP graphics while we finish the game. THEN if I have time, I will work on the sprites. MY OWN sprites.

And yeah nice project by the way. I'd go with the breeze characters like you said... it shouldn't matter that it adds time to your project. Or you could release it and then rerelease once the new sprites are done. :P
 
As I said, most of the screens are place holders, that wont be the end mapping, as I know the mapping isn't top notch. She said system as in the storyline and the way the game works, neverplayd. Fonts aren't there really to be read, its simple decoration. Everyone knows what each bar stands for through colour code. Anyway thanks for your comments. Im currently attempting a more animate title screen.

Hey man, I like your ideas for your game, the story is ok. The SBABS is cool, but try to get some faces in there. I just used the battlers as my face sets, and set them next to the text box using a common event. I like the XPgame page thing too. gl with making it! oh and welcome...

Update


Created a working UMS, hopefully when I draw my own characters it will be animated. The UMS makes the game alot more interactive and enjoyable.
 
I've played what's been done on this so far and...it's actually REALLY good. It reminds me of a high-quality Final Fantasy 5 with a much better combat system (NOT turn-based).

Loved it and I'm perhaps overly-eager to see the final version.
 
Haha, yeah, I let Angelo, seeing as he's one of the people helping me with the Manga and storyline to test it out so far. Happy to see you like it.
 
The story sounds good, the game looks quite nice touching on some retro aspcts of that gaming genre. I look forward to playing through the story above.
