Greetings!

Decided to toss out the obligatory "new guy" post!

This is a pretty buzzing site; too bad I didn't stumble upon it much sooner. So, I've been playing video games for 25 years--yes, lots of DOS, Atari, NES, and Windows 3.1 memories. Any other 'grognards' out there?

*Spins around in spinny chair*
Welcome Mr. space_ape.
I've been expecting you.
I hope you enjoy... Games, cause we have plenty here. MWUHAHAHAHA!

yo, I had to google grognard to find out what you were talking about, however in retrospect the pretext made it very clear
We have one notorious old boy here, called Brewmeister, or just Brew, which jumps in from time to time

Thanks for the warm welcome, fellas!

@Xhukari: It is, isn't it? *sigh* But I did get a front-row seat for the evolution of gaming, which has been pretty sick to watch. Walk the plank? Are there mermaids in these waters?

@ImHiPotion: I love games, bro! But, uh, what's with the spinny chair? That explains why that poor cat looks miserable.

@Tomas: Ha! I guess that speaks to just how old I really am!

"Boy, in my day, we had to dial up the local BBS on 1200 baud modems! If it took 3 minutes to connect, that was a good day!"

Y'all do know what dial-up is, right?

"Get off the internet. I need to use the phone" Oh I somewhat miss that TuT
Back in the days I actually spent money on habbo hotel and neo pets.
Those were some good days :)

Awesome Bro

Hey man, welcome to the forums!

I've been gaming for 19 years, and I'm only 21, hardcore gamer fo' life!

So do you do much gaming these days? If so, what're you on with at the minute?

Heck yeah! Neo Pets, ha! It's somewhat frightening to see how fast the internet exploded...

@Jason: you started gaming when you were 2? Dang, bro. I game everyday, but I've been spending more time designing games lately. I rock out the 360 (couch and big TV are hard to beat) and play some web-games from time to time. Some recent 360 games that I found pretty dang good were XCOM, The Walking Dead (telltale games series), and Skyrim. I have a long-time love affair with tycoon-style games like Capitalism, Simcity, Zoo Tycoon, and so on; also love strategy games like Knights of Honor, Europa Universalis, and Civilization. Also, even though it's not as big as it used to be, turn-based games are money. I'm into tabletop / board games, so that's no surprise.

What about you, J-dog? What do you play?

Well it depends what console really, since I've got quite a few games on the go at the same time, lol.

On 360 I'm playing Halo 4, but only MP, never really been into the singleplayer of the series, and I only bought it so my mates would shut up, since they were essentially bullying me into getting it, lol. I also frequent Gears of War 3 MP too, since y'know, Gears has some of the best MP gameplay this gen.

On PS3 (And VitA) I'm playing Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, it's REALLY fun, still haven't finished it with everyone though, but meh, mostly playing for the MP too... anyways, also playing Black Ops 2 MP with a buddy of mine, but he's raping the fuck out of it, I've not even hit max level yet and he's prestiged three times and over halfway to doing it again, lol.

On Vita I'm playing Assassin's Creed III: Liberation, it's good, but there's a few issues that stop it being anywhere near as good as the home console versions, they're mainly technical though, but it does feel a tad watered down, even if all the features are there... I'm also playing Gravity Rush and Resistance: Burning Skies (... Still, lol) Oh, and LittleBigPlanet Vita, currently in the middle of making a pretty badass level with some really cool touch mechanics and stuff.

On PSP (Well, PSP games on Vita) I'm in the middle of Persona 3 Portable, my first Persona game and I'm loving it to pieces to be honest, can't wait for Persona 4 Golden to release over here! I'm also playing through Final Fantasy IX (PSOne but whatever...) since y'know, it's the second best game in the series (Final Fantasy X takes that place, hands down!)

On 3DS I'm playing Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, it's surprisingly fun, my first Layton game, think I might buy the others... and Pokémon White (DS but shush) too, and I'm still playing Theatrhythm every so often too, I take it to work with me on occasion because it's a brilliant game and fun to play in short bursts.

I've got a combined total of over 300 games (Nearing the 350 mark) for PS3, Vita, PSP, 3DS, DS, and 360, and if you add my PC games onto that total, jesus christ, I've got SO MANY D:

Not playing anything on the PC at the moment though, I DID try to play Dishonored yesterday, but holy fuck it just bored me so much, lol. I play a lot of Battlefield 3 on PC, and have quite a collection of games on Steam too.

I mostly play RPG's, JRPG more specifically, but there are a few WRPG's I enjoy, not a huge fan of Skyrim, despite really enjoying Oblivion, but after attempting to play it so many times, I eventually started enjoying Fallout 3, and enjoyed Fallout: New Vegas a lot more too. Strategy games are also pretty cool too, right now I've got a playthrough of Civ 5 going, and RTS games are fun too, Red Alert 2 being my favourite RTS of all time, lol.

Fuck YES that game was epic!

Dude, you have a massive collection of games! WHOA!

Ya know, one thing that works against grognards like me is that we've seen so many games over the years that the latest iteration of FPS Call o' Duty clones really doesn't offer anything ground-breaking. I know that's kinda the point, right? Give them what they want and all that... but it's boooring to play 'generic military shoot mach 7'. Thankfully, there's some cool stuff being done by the indie developers. Minecraft, anyone?
