GTA is to be released in two days, that's the 29th April.

I don't generally buy in to the hype of games- or even play games generally- but I can't wait for this. The soundtrack alone (Justice and Savy Fav mother fuckers!) will make me buy this- although it needs more 80s to beat Vice City's IMO.

Not many reviews are out yet, but of those that have:

To date, from the reviews that have been published, Grand Theft Auto IV has received critical acclaim. The May 2008 issue of Official Xbox Magazine (UK) published the first Grand Theft Auto IV review, giving the game the maximum score of 10/10. The magazine also stated that the game has an "amazingly realistic world; stunning action set pieces; genuinely engrossing storyline; hugely entertaining multiplayer;" and that it is "vast in every respect."[90]

The June issue of Official PlayStation Magazine (Australia) gave Grand Theft Auto IV a perfect score of 10/10, explaining in their verdict: "The scope and scale of GTA IV is beyond anything gaming has ever had to offer". Throughout the review they refer to GTA IV as "a living and breathing world where anything is possible".

PlayStation Official Magazine (UK) also gave the game 10/10 in their May 2008 issue. Giving the game its highest award, the gold award, and describing the game as "A masterpiece that improves on all GTA's best bits."[91]

The British newspaper Daily Star, also gave a positive review, praising: "This could be a console defining title, one that in years to come people will remember as the stand-out of the era.".[92]

Xbox World 360 gave the game a 98% rating,the highest it has ever given to any game, mentioning: "everything we were entitled to expect, and yet somehow impossibly more." [93]

IGN gave the game 10 out of 10 in every category, awarding it with an "editor's choice" award and praising it as "masterful", also calling it "Without question...the best game since Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time." The review also mentioned that IGN hadn't given a console video game a perfect 10 since Soul Calibur in 1999.[94]

The best review so far has to be IGNs'. I usually don't trust theirs, they're like the Rolling Stone of gaming, but the video review is brilliant and showcases the multiplayer:

The ign video review was retarded.  They showed about 20 seconds of multiplayer and the rest was various shots of shooting stuff and driving cars while the boring narrator went "guns, ladies of the night, explosions, curse words GOTY GOTY GOTY AWSUM".  They didn't once talk about the new cell-phone based mission structure, surfing the internet, climbing telephone poles, hot wiring cars, riding around in cabs, or any of the cool new stuff that Rockstar has said will be in the game.

But yes, I will be buying this.

I'm actually pretty excited, got the pre-order in and should be playing it tonight at midnight. Looks really beautiful to say the least. I'm sure this'll replace San Andreas as my favorite GTA in a day or so.

I have to travel to 4 cities within the month of May so no, I shan't be buying it yet.

I've basically looked at everything else on the market though, and decided this game will probably cure cancer.

Why would they release it in the UK just when AS and A2 exams are starting though?

MGS4 is the game i'm looking forward to the most this year!*drooling*

It is pretty good, but seems like that will be proven over time with all the new details you get to discover naturally.  I wish the colours / graphics were a bit sharper (In HD).  They look good at sunrise, but at night and in fog they look a bit washed outv to me.
