Got some questions

ok so heres the deal im really new to rmxp, and was so excited when I found it, Im glad theres a good community like this for help. Im going to be making a demo game just one level, so I can learn and I need to know what format the tiles need to be in? all the sprites look like bitmap to me but if I could use PNG or JPEG. If so then why havent I seen a more realistic looking game, I understand the classic rpg look is the best but I just think I would see alot more realistic sprites. One more question, is this program worth the time to make a game? it looks great to me to good to be true, but then I think well how come theres not a ton of people using it.

Sorry to be a big mouth, hopefully I can get some help

I think that it's well worth the time, myself.

As for the graphics files, the game itself will support a large number of formats, but I vastly prefer PNGs, as PNG format supports transparency, which you'll want.

Realistic sprites are fine and good if that's what your game needs, and there's no reason that you can't use them if you either have them available or are able to create them.

thank you, but I figured out how to upload pngs and use them but now my problem is when I do upload them and try to play the game, my character will not walk. Any solutions to that? is there a method or do I need to size them different?

Did you set passages on the tileset?
Database > Tilesets > Passage comes up by default
As you may guess o means passable and x means unpassable.

One other guess: do you use the top left delete tile to erase unwanted tiles? Make sure you use that one and there are no other transparent tiles that could be blocking your characters path on any of the 3 layers.

thanks I got it all fixed now I had it blocked, like I said Im a newbie so I didnt even know about it, but this was a cool thing for me it answered my question. My plan is to make models on sketchup and blender, then render them in poses and building to make a more realistic looking game.
