Goddess! (Fixed Download Link)

The title of the game is Goddess!(Exclamation point included.)

Like all of my games it isn't a traditional RPG. So it doesn't focus on talking -much-. There are cutscenes but it's mostly action and puzzle solving.

You are Raiyde. An 300 year old half vampire, half sprite (Muse/Angel). 120 years ago before the beginning of the game, you have lost your bride to vampire hunters. Sadly, you have also lost your life due to a beheading.. (yet somehow you survived). Due to your beheading you have lost almost all memory of how your bride has died.

You start out in a cave hunting a fellow vampire that preys on virgin women. Something about this cave.. awakens passion stirring deep within. What's going on?

Other important characters, and their roles/backstory.

Percival:
She's a full blooded vampire, and previously (before she was surpassed by Raiyde) his mentor.
Percival met Raiyde after he was beheaded, she reattached his head and hoped for the best. For added security she kept him hydrated by submerging his corpse in a vat of blood.

Siegfred:
Raiyde's rival and previous friend. Before Raiyde was beheaded they were close, like brothers in a way.
He may have plotted to assassinate Raiyde beforehand, as he stood and watched his beheading.

Jasmine:
Raiydes wife, she was born human but turned into a vampire by Raiyde. She served as his minion but somehow is seen as the alpha female by Raiyde and Siegfred. She is followed loyally by the two.

Raiyde:
He is half vampire, half angel.
Though he's not immortal, his kind is seen as pretty hard to kill.


He dies slower than humans by far and a little harder than vampires. Even if he's beheaded if his head is reattached and his blood is replenished he'll regenerate over time kind of like a tree but he needs his original parts instead of making new ones.

However if his heart is shattered and seperated from each other he will die in a matter of days no matter how you put him back together he will not revive.

Telekinesis.
Raiyde takes control of his enemies by using telekineses on them. By doing so, he opens; doors, passageways, etc. These places are usually inaccessible by Raiyde even with his Blood Form.

Ghost Step.
A step that allows Raiyde to move faster than the human eye. With this technique he can get over traps/out run enemies in which he usually has no chance of doing.

Mist Walk.
An ability that allows Raiyde to stealth kill an enemy and get double EXP/GOLD. Not really a puzzle solving ability, but it is pretty cool.

Do you think you could tell us a bit more about this project of yours? Besides the main character are there any other important people? What sort of puzzle-solving will be featured? What form does the action that you speak of take? And wouldn't your team like to have their names included...?

That aside, the fact that the main dude very, VERY strongly resembles Link from The Legend of Zelda is rather jarring. I'm sure it couldn't be terribly hard to find something without as much facial recognition(besides, that faceset recolor looks awful). Also, how the FUCK could someone SURVIVE a beheading??? You do realize that were he beheaded, he would be WITHOUT A HEAD, yes?? Please explain this to me.

If you could refrain from empty criticism such as this in the future, that would be nice. It's fine to criticize his mapping, but at least tell him what's wrong with it, if not tell him how he can improve. Same with the menu thing. Thanks.
 
its odd being 300 years old and only being on LV.2

your story is very weird in a bad way, but that actually makes me want to play this more.
I think the mapping is quite nice.
I agree with above poster about the menus.

The resemblance is -purely- coincidental. Haha.

You should revamp your storyline with your "team". So the reason he's such a low level and he cant remember anything is he was beheaded. I wouldn't even want to play anything that absurd. The graphics look half assed, but, at least you tried to make things custom for an RM Game.

I do have to give it to you. Vampire games are rare when it comes to RPG MAKER games. Usually its about some boy in some village trying to save some kingdom from some douchebag. I'll give you another point for using blood as restoratives. However, the story seems like you pulled it out of a hat and put a shiny gold coat on it.

Of course, I will play it (eventually tommorrow) instead of giving criticism beforehand. Yet, if I dont respond. Good luck with your project, and kudos for having a semi unique backstory.

I'd understand criticism -after- you played the 10 minute demo but, before?

Deities die? It's his universe, they can do whatever he wants. He hasn't even posted his entire storyline for all you know it could be in much more detail with a complex explanation behind everything. He doesn't have to start at level 232323 just because he's 300 years old, if you forget everything then you would be back to level 2 or whatever, and I doubt the level counts for anything what with not having battles. The graphics are custom even if they're Pixel/IceAxe at least they're not the floating vamp from the RTP, not that there's anything wrong with using RTP anyhow it's his choice to use whatever graphical style.

Looking at this it looks average at best, the 3 puzzle styles you describe sound nice but it would be better to have a nice little tutorial on how they're used in puzzles without seeming 100% obvious beforehand (like you can only get over spikes with ghost step (which btw reminds me of flash step from bleach?) so any spikes you just use that skill). It's nice to see a game without battles but the rest of the game needs much more detail to compensate for the loss.

The story is intriguing mostly because it's kept short and sweet, hunting the vampire at the start looks like it'll lead to bigger things later on. This might get a play but when there's more, 10 - 20 minutes doesn't seem worth it just yet.
 
I played it earlier and it sucked. Sure, it had a few seconds of a custom intro with some random chick singing, it had a 'custom' sound track, custom poses, and voice acting probably ripped from some other games.

Yet, it sucked. Its like some uninspired jrpg. What the hell does a vampire have to do with transforming into an 'angel'? Even the final boss reeked of jrpg.

He ghost steps in the room like he's been there all along talks in the traditional arrogant jrpg villian way, gets his ass kicked and then leaves with the traditional arrogant jrpg villian attitude.

Yeah there is a tutorial in the beginning, but you have to figure out for yourself that you cant walk over traps.

If you do, you'll get a game over and have to start off right back where you saved

You have to equip the Blood Link necklace, exit the menu and re-enter the menu to equip the skill necessary to use the telekinesis skill the first time. Also that mist walk crap is like rocket science in a bottle. You need to actually sneak into a certain position which takes forever and then you need to have 100% health for it to work. WHICH SUCKS! Overall the glitchyness of the game the number one glitch is when you transform into his "Blood Form" you kill BOSSES in SECONDS. His attack speed is so fast that he deals 10k damage in under 6 seconds with normal melee attacks of 400.

Why would you release something so glitchy, Yuko? You should at least take the time to work on the game more than releasing it without bug hunting. Overall, sure the mappings okay. It's not great, but its not sucky. You need to work more on your story.

Loved the part where he had his head chopped off.

I'll tell you right now. The game is okay, but it has -no- replay value. Its frustrating and you need to give at least a few tips to your audience. Assume that everyone playing your game is mentally retarded and can't think worth a crap. I would rather play this game than some other rm maker projects, but.. I wouldn't play this game over a game like.. I dont know. Hybris.

However I will say one good thing about it. It doesn't look as shitty as your screenshots in game.

That level is TOTALLY inconsistant with the other rtp levels in game.

How the hell was I supposed to figure out that I needed to equip that to the SIXTH slot? It didn't show me CRAP. Also how the HELL was I supposed to figure out that I needed to stand in the image of Raiyde to use the telekinesis skill AFTER I equipped the link, exited the menu, re-entered the menu, and hotkeyed the skill?

FUCK man at least give some fuckin pointers.

You can't pop out a random girl that distorts the RPG Maker graphics. I don't give a fuck if she's a ghost or not That shit isn't cool. Especially that creepy sfx that goes with it.

I hate that minigame with a passion. If that big oaf even touches you, you're dog food. I hate it even more that your game is over and you have to start ALL THE WAY from the beginning again. Shit dude, give more pointers.

Man, you've got to learn to take a little criticism.  Don't post your game and expect everyone to instantly love it.  Just take it as a chance to improve your games.  Anyways, I got an error.  Something about the message system, on line 66.
