It's been over the news recently. I don't see how it can be described as "a small thing". The hacked emails from the Climate Change Research Unit from the University of East Anglia, including some UN Panel members which apparently show that quite a few scientists following a anthropogenic global warming line can't get reality to match their models, have attempted to suppress contrary evidence, and basically conceded that they have been engaged in "public misspeaking".

This may surprise you, but a lot of polling data I've seen lately taken in the run-up to Copenhagen (print media - can't post I'm afraid but will find references sometime) suggest that people are more conscious of environmental measures *regardless* of whether or not they believe in AGW.
There only seems to be a marginal difference between belief in AGW and Carbon Consciousness (The size of the margin varies whether you're reading the Guardian or the Telegraph ;P )

Of course, the issue is still whether or not people are actually doing anything about it...

that's not where I get my information, and considering what hardcore opponents of the theory have been saying, this really only evens out the two bases

my perspective is and always has been "polluting things is a bad idea regardless of the immediate consequences or lack thereof"

all told, it is very probably a cyclic phenomenon, possibly underscored by human intervention but not caused outright.

but it's stupid and smallminded to become big on environmental responsibility just because you're afraid of what happened in The Day After Tomorrow

also can we please stop going after developing countries to drop their carbon emissions while we're still humming around with two cars to a man? the industrial revolution had hella soot and such, it is true, but I'm pretty sure such an intermediary stage in economic and industrial development is quite necessary and difficult to suppress or skip altogether

I'm not much of a THINK OF THE CHILDREN~~ guy but it seems sort of strange to expect particularly drastic changes from the only societies which are at present unable to make them

Compared to last year Britain has had far far far less snow. I could quite easily say "Global warming: Myth proven".

global warming is an outdated term, anyway. the world is not going to uniformly heat up. the issue is climate change, where different regions are affected differently. some will warm, some will thaw. that sort of thing.

I'm getting tired of all these people on the internet going "WELP it's been cold lately guess there's no such thing!!"

Your not serious are you? Just about every climate-change legislation in one way or another limits freedom.

Instead of saying "pass laws" I should say they WANT to use global warming to push their socialist agenda, its not gotten a terrible amount of traction just yet. But obama is working on it.
