Since winter of last year, http://www.gametrailers.com has been making multiple part movies called "retrospectives" in which they examine a particular game franchise and release little videos detailing the games of the franchise, their timeline in the over all story, etc.
They began with the Zelda Retrospective, in which they detailed the games of the franchise, and talked about the chronological timeline of the games. It was released as a special primer for Zelda: Twilight Princess, so it doesn't feature TP or PH.
This summer, they started both the Final Fantasy Retrospective, and the Metroid Retrospective. The Final Fantasy Retrospective is still on part 6 of 13, (games 1-9 and all spin-offs in between). Part 7 is said to review FFX and FFX-2.
The Metroid Retrospective and the Zelda Retrospective have been released, each with 5 and 6 parts, respectively. If you have an hour to burn, and you are a fan of any of these franchises, you must watch them. They are a great waste of time, and its a feast to the eyes and ears, and may leave you feeling nostalgic for some of the games in the earlier parts.
Its fun, its great, and if you want to join, remember:
