i made an installer for a demo game, meaning: it opens up like installsheild or whatever and the user chooses the paths eta, then the installer installs the game even if rpg maker isnt installed the game will work.(it installs all the files from stardard it needs) i am more then willing to make installers for other people, but only for COMPLEATED games(or demos that are at least 25% done).

FAQ
i was asked if this would work with encryted archives the answer is yes.
i was also asked what i used; i used inno setup compiler 5.

anyother questions?

i have since made a better installer that will work on all computers(except 95,98 because i feel they are too outdated) it seems no one is interested in this so i shall wait for a pm from anyone who is interested.

There isn't much of a point for an installer- Personally, I prefer opening a *.DMG file and dragging the *.app and folders on to my hard drive.

Awesome Bro

Actually an installer does sound pretty handy, if I ever get my game finished or atleast a demo out for it, maybe you could make an installer for me ?

@cocoa, its more so other people who arnt good with computers can play your game.

@jbrist, yes thats the idea, ive enjoyed perfecting mine(not perfect yet, but its really good now), so i thought i would make some for other people.

at request i will repost the most recent example of my work

Well, aren't all game files included in the *.app bundle? I mean, if you need SDL.framework, it can be under APPNAME/Content/Frameworks/ ...etc

Well, generally, aren't all the files used by the program stored inside the app bundle? In that case, there's no need for an installer unless it install system components that are used in more than one app.

As an example, I download Firefox- I mount the Firefox.dmg, and then drag Firefox.app to the Applications directory in root. If I look inside the App Bundle (I don't have Firefox atm, so I'll use Camino), I see a folder call Contents, and under that a folder called Frameworks, Resources and MacOS. Frameworks holds various libraries used, such as SDL, or OpenGL/OpenAL...etc. Resources is where you'll find localization resources, or any *.xib files used, in addition to graphical resources and more. MacOS is where you will find your application binary. It's a very clean format.

i see what you mean, i like that idea. i might use it myself. but what about people who i want to be able to play it without have any knowlage of playing a computer?

the idea of the installer is to make it work without rtp which is what i was aiming for.

Well, you can make it work without RTP- You need to include all the files used by the game in it's local folder, and then remove the RTP entry from the RMXP Project data file.

It may be easier to use NSIS, though.
