Alright, so as you can probably tell by the title, I'm having a bit of a problem when I'm attempting to compress the game data in RPG Maker XP, and play it, so I can distribute over the internet! Now, I don't usually give up on things easily, but this is really getting to me, and would be great if I could have some assistance!
So basically, this is what I do, this is the general process of how I've been compressing the data:
1. File > Compress Game Data > Select Location > Click Okay (I've tried both encrypted and non-encrypted.)
2. Everything is working fine. It then says, "Successfully compressed game data."
3. I then attempt to extract the files to my desktop so I can see if it works, and THIS is where it messes up. There's two new icons on my desktop, those would be the "Game.exe" (Extractor) an some "Windows Shell Common Dll" with the name of "Test.002" So I open up the Game.exe, extract it like I normally would...and this is what happens. For some reason, the extractor either says, "Extraction Failed.", or it just freezes up completely at the end of the bar and just says "Not Responding" on the window, so I then have to manually close it.
It also seems to me that it is only extracting the audio elements of the game, as there is only one folder extracted before it screws up. And that would be the Audio folder.
Any idea whats going on here?! Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Found something weird, I open up the same Game.exe that I compressed using WinRar, and it works! It's only when I double-click the Game.exe that it doesn't work, anybody know why this is?
