[FULL] Super Mario RPG: The Seven Sages (1.7.1)

It took a while, but I beat the game. 90/100 Completion points, not bad. All Areas explored, too. :lol:

I'm going to do a full review on this game starting tomorrow.

But as a summary here, I want to say you did a good job, C. You showed the power that RPG Maker 2003 still has, despite RPG Maker XP and VX having huge popularity and better gameplay building options. This is also a lesson in humbleness, showing that the video game industry should keep to what matters most: gameplay, and stop investing so much time into the mainstream that you need "graphics" and "flashy AI" in order to make a good game. This makes me want to join your team for future projects, just because of the potential of your creativity.
 
I am going to have to disagree with Cordynasty.

Your gameplay is consistently being overshadowed by poorly control of the sprite and game ending errors. I've gotten stuck numerous times in the underwater land due to terrain issues, and I've had events that have put me in places I can't leave. Most of the time I frustratingly put the game down and wait a few hours before redoing the 10 minutes of work I just through away (happened at least a dozen times). Except this time, when being teleported to the bean kingdom after finding the Ruby Robolous, the game freezes in front of the queen and I CAN'T work around it. I don't even know how this is possible, this is an issue that should be caught ahead of time.

And the battles are horribly tedious. You did not include the fun parts in all the mario games.

Other than that, it certainly feels like a mario game. Simple but interesting plot, many puzzles and minigames, and humor. Good job on this front.
 
Download version 1.5.0 in preparation. All newer versions after v1.5.0 allow you to download a small ~5 MB file that will patch your game to the latest version.

I'm totally speechless from seeing the trailer! This game looks exactly as it was made by Nintendo! Very good work, my friend! Awsome!! :)
 
I'm a little late in posting this here, but here goes:
As of August 8th, 2010, Super Mario RPG: The Seven Sages is over a year old!
Well, it's really 5 years old, but it's been out for a year.

CELEBRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE!!!

WOOHOO!

  • In that period of time, Seven Sages has gone through 10 updated releases, with at least 200 fixed typos, several dozen fixed glitches, new endgame content, new skills, items and weapons.
  • Seven Sages ranked 2nd in HBGames.org Game of the Year competition.
  • Seven Sages has generated nearly half a million views views on Youtube.
  • As of this posting, Seven Sages has 7,500+ downloads (about 18 a day!)
  • Seven Sages has inspired/spawned about a dozen new Mario RPG Fan games.
  • Seven Sages is considered the best Mario RPG fan games, and one of the better RPG Maker 2003 games ever made. ()
  • And there's still more to come!

I have played the game, haven't beaten in but not giving up! this game deserves a try on it!
i see this one of the best rpg maker 2003 games i have ever played though, i expect starlite worlds be on a higher ceiling.

A few notes:
-Seven Sages has surpassed 10,000 downloads!
-No more updates until The Luigi Chronicles Expansion Pack
-Each future expansion pack will add almost an hour of play time each.
-Item/Armor/Weapon Forging to be implemented in TLC
-Quest & Loot system to be implemented in TLC
-New items, weapons and armors
-New skills
-Buffs and nerfs across the board
-Bowser's equipment is no longer locked (But Dark Bowser's is)
-New "Modded Suits" put a new spin on old suits
-New enemies, "Rare Enemies" and all new bosses!

I'm mulling over an idea to (finally) create an ICU Gigasoft play through of our games. However, it'll have a twist. On the left side of the video will be footage of me (or cdivision) playing through one of our games. On the right, however, commentary from us will pop up from time to time. They will be about what's happening in the game, how we made stuff, why we did what we did, or other fun facts about the games development.

The first game on the list will be "Seven Sages," although I'm open to doing others (including unfinished projects) during the run through.

Here's a preview of how it will look. Comments, feedback, and questions would be nice before I decide to continue or not.
 
Super Mario RPG: Seven Sages 1.7.0 is out, download it here.

As usual, there are new weapons, armor, and bug fixes. The biggest change is that the game comes with the project files unlike previous versions. You are encourage to create your own mods and submit them to our site if want them to be hosted. Currently we have an alternate suit color pack and a graphic revamp up for download.
