Flexons

Why is it that every kind of Flexon 'unbreakable' frames break at almost the exact same point?  I have bought three pairs of flexon glasses in the past 5 years.  All three have broken on the left side bridge about 2mm from the lens.  Every pair.  Now I'm not one to crumple them up or anything, so i don't put extra wear on the bridge, yet all three times they break there.  This last time after falling off my face and being stepped on my a little girl.  I can't keep affording new glasses.  Anyone know how i can fix them?

I've tried liquid superglue. (Ended up fogging part of the lens)
Gel Superglue (Worked for less than an hour)
Solder (Wouldn't stick even after plating was removed)
Airframe 'welding' glue (Held for about 29 hours after setting for 24)

I'm at a loss.  No one sells cheap frames that can hold my lenses...

try duct tape.  I used to break my glasses all the time, but duct tape works pretty well.  Also, if you have a habit of breaking glasses, stop buying the expensive frames and get plastic ones.  They may look corny, but they'll save you a fortune.

I always buy aluminum-frame glasses. They're cheap and don't break. They may bend, but with a little coercion they can be molded back just fine. The only problem is that the lenses pop out a little easier so you hav eto tighten the screws once in a while.

But yeah duct tape is the way to go -- unfortunately you'll look like a dweeb though :(

Also have you tried epoxy resin? Remember you have to let it set 24-48 hours after application.

Here's another idea:  get contacts.  You'll still want a spare pair of glasses, but contacts will make your world a lot better (unless they hurt your eyes or your allergic, of course)

There isn't enough metal on the one side to tape.  Yes I tryed Epoxy.  But they didn't even get a chance to set as they fell off my workbench.

god i could've broken a thousand of those crappy glasses

it's sad i used to break my glasses all the time, and all the "unbreakable" would break so fucking quickly.  i have not once broke the current pair i have, and my dog chrewed on it and i had to actually argue with her physically in a tug-o-war to get them back one night, and they still didn't break.

they're made of plastic.  normal plastic black slightly thicker stylish li'l frames.  i guess they're could be metal in the center?  but then they'd have broken by now i'm sure.  because metal frames suck ass unless they are - as venny said - aluminum.

seriously plastic frames.  the shit don't break.  i've stepped on these, i've slept with them on and all sorts of things, and they haven't broken once.  the worse that happened is a screw fell out and i had to get a replacement at the grocer, that's it.

Then try it again? Epoxy resin is one of the strongest glues around, and it's what professionals use to bond non-porous materials together.

Just be sure to set it on a surface they won't tumble off of!

what the hell do you do? my glasses have never come close to being broken and i've had them for like four years, and theyre just regular

some people are more active than others.
i've gotten jumped where my glasses broke.  i've been on a swing set once and my glasses just broke - the funny thing I wasn't even swinging i was just sitting there and suddenly they fell apart, cracked at the... ummm... what's that piece that goes to the ear?  That part.

I've had them drop and break, I've had them twisted when I fell asleep on the bus with them, and a load of other things.  Glasses are like jeans, sometimes some people just happen to get tears more than others.  I know people who never tear their jeans, yet I don't own a single pair that doesn't have shreds and tatters here and there.  They tear in the first week.
