Flashlight Event not working.

As some of you know, I'm trying to make a horror game, so flashlights=happy rathalos.

So, I searched until I found a relativley simple event code to use flashlights, found here:

I would've asked there, if the last post wasn't so long ago! So I decided to post here:

I did everything the guide says EXACTLY how he does it, but when I press shift... nothing happens. I have a flashlight in my inventory and the screen's tinted, what am I doing wrong?

Have you turned on the switches that act as Triggers for the Common Events?

Yep. I swear, I think my button input thing is broke. Earlier today, I decided to make a event ABS, but my character couldn't attack no matter what button I pressed.

Also, sort of unrelated, but is there a way to make item icons to appear in a textbox?

Try pressing F1 while testing and reset the controls. It's a small chance, but maybe you accidentally removed one of the buttons.

If that's not the case, you might want to post a demo, or at least some screenshots, as right now it's hard to identify the problem.

And about the item icons, you can't by default, but there are some custom message scripts out there (ccoa's UMS or dubealex's AMS are pretty popular, do a search) that have the function.

Alright, I just fixed it by making it selectable in the item menu, instead of before where you pressed shift.
