FL Studio

(Sorry if this is the wrong section)
I have seen some pretty amazing videos on youtube of FL Studio, and am about to download the demo now.
Since I am creating Dio di Dii to be an incredible hit, I want everything to be original when the full game is released. That being said, I hafta learn how to make music.
So for beginners, is FL Studio worth the 99$ buy if I am only creating an amateur game? Any other (cheaper) audio creators that would be an alternative (kinda like GIMP is to Photoshop)? Thanks for all your help and have a good day :)

fl is worth the money if you put the effort into actually using it to its full potential. it has a very bad rep because its incredibly popular and people use it wrong, and make shitty sounding stuff.

there aren't any GOOD free audio workstations that i know of.

you could go for finale notepad or something. i'm not sure how much it costs, but it's decent for indie game bgms.

Hmm..ill check that out. As for now, it seems that the demo can export your song but not save it..I guess technically I could just try and make my songs session by session.

Youre right on the money. People fucking kill FL Studio cause of all the terrible shit made with it, it spawns demon composers.

Finale Notepad, however, is free, but strictly for composing. You can download a free 30 day trial of Print Music and create Mp3s and Wav's to test it out. I use '08 and its absoultely great :3

I tend to express my negative thoughts on the program using a far more intelligent basis than "some people made shitty music with it". I simply don't like the software for many reasons; however for the price it is a very good deal.

chances your negative thoughts are all somewhere along the lines of how it doesn't have something that Cubase/Reason/Protools/etc has, or how its somehow technically inferior to them.

fl is for hobbyists (hence the affordability). protools and reason are for timbaland and tiesto.

Can't stand Reason. And FL Studio is not just for hobbyists, it is a legitimate program that can create professional quality music. I just do not like it because of its awkward functionality in relation to my own work flow.

One option is get tux guitar, for free, compose your music in it and then export a midi file. Import it into FL and then use the better sounds from FL.

You get the best of FL for free.

I still have an old version of FL Studio, 5, on my computer and its served me well. It's definitely worth its price. Look around, though, and see what other programs are available and see how comfortable you'd be with them.
