First Sprite Attempt

Hey, i've began trying to give spriting a shot, and I thought i'd make a sprite of Isaac, off Dead Space.

Can you tell me what you think of it? Thanks!

EDIT: Larger Version:

You can use the imgzoom tag on small images; you don't need to blow them up yourself! I've added it to the first one for you. ~Perihelion

I don't know who isaac from deadspace is but the sprite looks good for a first timer, but I think you should put more detail into the face mask thingy if you want it to blend with the shaded body I also think that there are too many spiky things on the suit thing too (personally though because I don't know what this isaac guy looks like).

Thank you and have a nice day!

I liked Dead Space a lot, so it's really awesome that you chose to do a sprite from that game. XD

After looking at Isaac in the Dead Space Wiki (I have a bad memory), I think he does look a lot like him. I think Zchin131 is right about more detail/shading on his helmet so it matches the rest of the body.

Other than that, I think it's pretty good. ^_^

Ok, the only thing I changed for now was the helmet:

What I done was made the helmet a darker colour fully, then added a lighter shade on one side, and a darker shade on the other.

I think the palette for the metal pieces might be off a tad. But other than that i like it. I loved deadspace but couldnt finnish it because i was too scared

Actually I would rather say that you didn't show us enough of his coat underneath,
furthermore the helmet is really flat, you shade it wrong,
it should be shaded like this:

Overall you should work more on your palette, it doesn't have enough contrast,
and looks like you just went up/down on the brightness,
Remember higlights tend to be desaturated and turn toward yellow,
while shadows are saturated with hints of blue

Otherwise, very nice for a first sprite - I don't see any pillowshading :D

I loved deadspace but couldnt finnish it because i was too scared
try it with a couple of pals, helps a lot :D

Awesome Bro

badmonur is a pussy !

I completed it all on myself, at night time, with no lights on, with the window open to let a cold chilly breeze in, with a creeky door beside me... I'll never forget that night... I was scared as fuck... But meh, I finished it nonetheless, although I slept on the sofa I was sat on... I didn't dare go upstairs, lol.

Howelly, it doesn't look too bad, I mean, the design looks okay, although you don't show his undercoat, and you need tons more contrast, also, your shading is off in many places.

Ok, thanks for the replies

I'll have a shot at Fixing the shading/contrast and other areas.

Yeah dead space is a pretty scary game, but it really depends on who plays it.

Some people can't manage the first, whilst others replay it over and over. I myself (Xbox) am 3 acheivements away from all them

Anyway, rather than open a new post, does anybody have any tips on how to create a tileset from scratch? have no knowledge in that feild.

*Keep your style consistent
*Maintain your perspective
*Keep to scale with your character sets
*detail, detail, detail
*make it less saturated than the character sets so it doesn't stand out as much
*Remember XP uses a 32 X 32 grid and does not have full alpha channel

That's pretty much it :D

Dead Space was awesome. I beat that game like 3 times and I only have 2 or 3 Trophies yet to unlock (both require beating the game again  ). Anyway, as far as your sprite goes, it need more of an orange tone. I'd also recommend adding more detail like three other people just said, like add some underarmor and give him less of an awkward pose. Also make him hunch over and slap a Plasma Cutter in his hand and you should be good ;)
