If you go to Target, you can get a cheaper USB controller with the PS2 button layout. I'd honestly get that.

A quick search at Target.com shows that the cheapest is $9.99, but it has no analog sticks. I think I could find a cheaper adapter online; plus, I could use my DDR mats. Unless I find a better deal, I'll look for an adapter.

I hope I made a safe assumption, but to play is free, right?

I just answered that, and offically, it does, but I'd get the PC version anyways, it looks a lot nicer, and the PS3 doesn't really enhance it at all.

I'd just use a keyboard and the numpad for movement. You don't really need THAT much flexibility in your controls because the game is not strongly movement based.

You've never played as any Mage class or as a Tank, have you?

Damn it you guys are making want to start playing agian. I left a pretty good linkshell behind when I moved and had to quit.

My Red Mage was awesome. I saved and saved and got all the Elemental Staves when I hit Lvl 51.

God that game consumed me...

Side note: Don't start off as a Red Mage. If you do you doom yourself to one of the hardest jobs in the game to play.

It's easy at first but once you get to around lvl 30 your role in the party changes to a hectic schedule of constantly anticipating the worst.

My regular party routine at lvl 50 was this:

Refresh self, Debuff mob, refresh White Mage, debuff Mob, Refresh Paladin [if there is one], Debuff mob... Repeat cycle until mob is dead and then do it again.

Occassionally you get the add and that goes like this:

Refresh self, Debuff mob, refresh White Mage, debuff Mob, Refresh... *Shit CURE, CURE, CURE*... Refresh self, Debuff mob, refresh White Mage, debuff Mob, Refresh Paladin [if there is one], Debuff mob... *Shit CURE, CURE, CURE*... Convert, Cure IV, get hit, Chainspell, Save Party, die.

Red Mages constantly live on the edge of boredom and ABSOLUTELY INSANITY!!!

Hehe Dopples, I was gonna say, any melee class is constantly moving, and Thiefs in particular usually have to be positioned very particularly.

I should clarify why I think Dopples is missing the point with the controller issue. For starters, being able to plug any one of your 8+ Playstation controllers (I'm not the only one with 2 Old-Style PS1 controllers, 2 (3 if you count the one that got orange juiced) dual-analogs, and 2 Dual-shocks, in addition to my slightly less relevant 2 SIXAXIS, right?) into your PC. Your lesser friends will be shocked and amazed, your teachers will give you better grades, and your boss will give you a raise. This is especially relevant since most people on earth have a playstation 2 controller, and most of them have more than one. Having a Sony brand Dual-Shock is much cooler than having a Logitech Plasti-Smooth crackerjack controller.

You also have the added benefit (If you are using Dual-Shock) of analog face buttons, rumble, and a smartly mapped button layout (assuming you get a good adapter). I recommend Smartjoy PLUS, since they pretty much make the best ones, and they are under $15. Since Lik-Sang is dead, it's harder to find them, but http://www.gamersection.ca/product_info.php?products_id=192&language=1 has em (they are Canadian, but they ship to the U.S.)

@Firestalker - Yeah, I've never been a big spellcaster. Samurai or Dragoon for me :D

Arc, I think I'd prefer this. The obvious benefit is being able to use two controllers (I'm thinking 2 dance mats for DDR), plus it's cheaper than two single-port adapters. Thank you very much for linking me to that site. It has so many wonderful things!

Logitech Keyboard / PS2 controller made controlling it comfortable...too bad the PS2 sucked and the HDD always had problems, I had to reinstall the program 3 or 4 times over a couple years.

I thought about getting it again for xbox360, they are coming out with the keyboards that fit in between the grips your hands go on...that could get annoying tho like text messaging whenever you wanted to say anything...

But oh wait, I forgot I play this all the time now. Yay I found a way to spend another 2 years.
