I think lex finally has that handled actually... I hope XD. We got The After Years battle sprites now... it should all be good! I've procrastinated on Essence today and yesterday, ha... uhhh yeah ^_^. 1/6th of the intro is done! ...I have to do the battle animations now, along with items... weapons... ... ... *cries* and... *cries more* more stuff...

Not very active with the forums, but... I do visit every now and again. This has been a project I've been following very closely, and I'm very excited to say that I'm pleased you haven't given up on it yet.

Hi guys. New here. I'am the spriter and tile set artist for FF Essence. I've been working with this project since it began but I am only just now joining these forums.

Anyway here is a preview the newest tile set I have created. Its almost entirely original except for the ground tiles of course.
Inspired by lately 1700s European architecture and Roman architecture.
The Kingdom of Eldia didn't fit with the current environment being medieval so I felt was important to have new tiles.

As a lot of people have already stated, at first i thought this would be another poor attempt at an FF game (it's almost a given with a project working under the Final Fantasy moniker), but you've gone and created this cool new universe which stays true to the heart of Final Fantasy. Certainly, the in-game graphics, which resemble FF5's, prove this. The story seems interesting - I am especially pleased with the whole back-story of the Essence of Life. I think it is a bit harsh for those soldiers to burn down the village just because the parents refused to let their children join their army though! Surely, there's a more effective way for the soldiers to recruit more troops without destroying their kingdom's population?

Well, I must say, I saw this game a bit back, and I liked it then, checking in now though, it looks amazing. I like the way you're designing the maps, feels very Final Fantasy V/VI - ish, with how there's a lot there, but they aren't massively open. Well, minus the one shot of the farm, but you can't do much with a farm.

I'll be following this game, and hope to see more soon. So good luck and all that. ^^

Thanks! I hope you guys are still expecting that demo this December! I sure am! I wonder when it's gonna be done... You have to put into consideration: Sin being lazy with scripts, me being lazy with data base work, spriting... me staying on task! Oh boy. I'm sure I'll make it!

Okay, well... I won't go into "full detail" but having it so menu and battles use different icon graphics for weapons. Thats the simple version which I think is good enough.

This story reminds me a lot of Final Fantasy Six. Still the story is very well done, and a lot of thought put into it. The mapping looks well done. Everything is filled, placed, and color properly. I will be following this project. :biggrin: Good Luck
