Final Fantasy: Crystalline Twilight

You have committed a sin with your crystals...WAR!!!

Anyway, as you said, it does seem like your typical FF storyline (I'm surprise at how FF is still around, personally.) So I mean there isn't really much you can differ between. You have a few things in there that may be slightly interesting, but all in all nothing spectacular story-wise.

The thing about FF is that it has always relied on gameplay to be a good game, so that is where you're going to have to excel. In gameplay, things such as dungeon designs, unique systems, battle tactics, are all essential to bringing out the the essence of an FF game, and more importantly making it work a go.

The screenshots, from the few there are, look rather nice. I have to say that's one of the better FF title screens I've seen. You're mapping looks pretty solid, so you have my interest. I like to play the fangames to look for th effort the author has put in, so surprise and impress me ;)

EDIT:
Eat your heart out Twilight/Michael.

2 years, huh?
Sounds all right. You actually gave me some ideas, but I don't feel like making a game at the moment, seeing how I'm actually waiting for the FFVI SDK. But it sounds good.

And like Jstreet said, your mapping is wonderful.

Anyway, good luck with ya! ;)

One thing... please, don't call the humans "Humes" just because a few of the more recent FF games did it.

If you're having humans and elves and such in the game, just call them what they are.

Having cheesy "almost, but not exactly the same" names for the typical fantasy races (humans="Humes", elves="Elvaan", etc.) is extremely annoying. One of the dumbest things they've done recently in the FF games, which is saying a lot considering all the dumb things the recent games in the series have done.

I hate the competition, but you've got me on the ropes here. This looks like an exiciting new game. Can't wait to see how this one turns out.

I'm slowly working on it... I was going to update the thread with more screenshots and info soon. :)

By the way, thanks for the comments, everyone.

I see that you are also using Matoya. I'm okay with that, seeing as it wasn't in my demo XP but i have a suggestion, if you go in for accuaracy: White hair. If not, some other color, beacuse the brown doesn't show up that well.

Thanks. :) I'll consider changing the hair color. And Matoya is there really for just a little tribute. She doesn't have a great part in the storyline.

Some news regarding the game:

- Lapensee kindly volunteered to arrange some of the FF-themes for me.

- Changed some names of the locations (for example, Alberfost is now Alberdoria).

- Revamped the introduction sequence.

- Added two playable characters to the thread.

- Changed Rain's character graphic. Now he looks more like a hero to me.

I'll have new screenshots to show soon. Also, I've been considering changing the logo of the game, since I'm not satisfied with my current one. What do you think of this? I'm going to add the background picture later. Also I'm not sure if the japanese text is right. I used a Katakana font I found at Dafont. So correct me if it's wrong.

Mo, man, keep it. Its fine as it is, looks very professional and generally awesome. Anyway, you can't have a Final Fantasy logo without the strange symbolic picture in the background, can you?

I like the first logo alot better to be honest.
For everyone else to hear, maybe you could put a link to the music in a spoiler tag in your first post?
Heres the first song for everyone to listen to:
Final Fantasy

And I'm about to PM you a first version of the song you wanted me to do.

Now for some Criticism:
This game looks great, could be the next great FF Fangame, the mapping is good, the story is great, same with the characters, I can't wait for some more screenshots and a possible demo/play sort of thing.

Man, that is a NICE remix of the Prelude. I like what you've done with the choir partway through, sounds like what FFXII did but at the same time it has an identity all of its own.

That's a brilliant arangement, it sounds so pro. It has that classic FF4 feel to it whilst also sounding like a modern version of the prelude.
