Final Fantasy 2.

Yeah i know ,
Again a topic about an ff game .
But i want to clear up some things .

But this time not about 7 or 12 ..
(those weren't so bad , ?? )

But about FF2 .

Why does everyone says it stinks !!!
In my opinion its the best theye have made .
the grow system is higly original and the story is one of the best ever made ..

Most poeple hate it about it high deficulty ,
But he .. there are tricks to do that away ..

So what do you guys/girls/man/woman  think about ff2 ??

My opinion is : you are obsessed with Final Fantasy series, maybe you should take the time to play some other games that were released at that time and realize the obvious: They were much better
Peace

:D

wel lets just say i'm abssesed with rpg's ..

and beat-em-ups , and wel all other games i have XD

by the way i'm talking about the Gamboy remake , lol the original was before i was born XD
(only 15 right now XD)

but the story is in my opinion  the best ever , as the grow system ;)

I found the GBA remake quite fun, but I couldn't stand the original.

The problem is that the parameters deciding how likely you where to raise a stat once the battle is over was poorly set. The fact that the system is original doesn't help much when it's poorly implemented. In the GBA remake they fixed most of the parameters though and the game got much better. Still, there was things left that could have done with some better balancing.

I did like the story. It wasn't particular good really, but most of the stuff there is easy to swallow.

Mega Flare

Awesome Bro

Final Fantasy 2 is amazing... i dont get why peopel thought it was hard... but yeah its a great FF game. i didnt like the GBA version since they made it easyer... i played the PS1 version... im pretty far.

Final Fantasy was -not- a difficult game, that is the problem.

You get into a fight, attack your allies, heal up, attack your allies, repeat. Once you have super high STR and DEF, you take off your weapons and armor and you are invincible. Yeah, you are actually STRONGER without them. It's retarded.

The levelling system is poor, the storyline is not that great. It's just not a good game, even compared to the standards of the time it came out.

same with FF1. i know the Monks specifically hauled ass without any weapons/armor in FF1.

btw ff2 was terrible. your stats go up individually.. worst idea ever.

FF2's combat system wasn't as poor as Final Fantasy 4's.  I don't think the developers even planned ahead when they created equipment values and character abilities.

Definitely second worse in the series.  FF4's battle system is probably the worse I've played in a videogame.  Period.

I loved Final Fantasy 4's battle system. It was so basic, yeah, but it was still good. The only problem it has that I remember vividly was that white magic (especially Cecil's paladin white magic) doesn't scale high enough to be worth a damn end game. Which is a problem that FF2 has as well.

FFIV's combat was completely broken.  You could take advantage of FF2s but 4's systems made absolutely no sense.  None of the abilities were worth a damn especially:

-The defense algorithms made no sense.  No matter how high your defense was, enemies still did relatively the same defense making Cecil's protect ability useless since he lost MORE HP than the person he was protecting.

-The ATB system was buggy.  Edge could attack three times BEFORE his bar filled up than the time it took a character to cast a spell or attack.

-The abilities were useless.  Why would you have Edgar hide?  Why didn't pray level up with you?  Why did Odin only affect monsters weaker than you (he couldn't even kill moon monsters)?  Why did Zhang's guard ability not actually INCREASE his defense?  Why did Zhang take two turns to do exactly double damage and why did Kick not level up with him?

-The game's encounter rate was way too high.  Waaay too high.

Garbage.  I hope the remake fixes all those imbalances.

You're talking about FF4 Advance aren't you? Probably the JP/NA release, too. All those bugs (the defense bug, the ATB bug, and the encounter rate) were fixed in the EU release and the second JP release.

I'm talking about the game in general.  Even the original JP snes version and the superior PS1 remake, the game still suffered from terrible balance and the character abilities were downright useless.

Yeah, I know that the balance was bad (for abilities), but the ATB Skipping, repeating turns, encounter rate, etc. weren't in the JP or NA SNES versions.
