Anyone here that plays fifa? (if not, and you still wish to discuss -> fifa: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIFA_Football)
I've got a mate that really enjoys it, so I have had to play it on a regular basis too. At first I didn't really enjoy it because of.. well I just didn't like fifa, but the more I played it the better I became and the more enjoyable it was. This thread is for the discussion of the FIFA series, because in some other thread jbrist told me fifa didn't really change over the years. I think it did.

If you ask me, they're all the same, they've got pretty much the same game mechanics, and the only thing that changes is the graphics, and the people on the team, and that means jack shit, since stats are based on the team not each player !

As a matter of fact, I do think the mechanics changed. The concept is the only thing that didn't change; you still get to pick a team of all of the available, and you still play soccer/football.

If you're a regular fifa player though, you've noticed in fifa 2010 the weight of characters really comes into play, making messi a bit less the 'allround best player' because he's so short, and gets bounced around the field whenever he walks into someone big. Also, they've implemented a system in which the player can walk in all directions. This doesn't seem like a big deal at first, but feels really good, once you're actually playing.

Anyway, I think they change a whole bunch of features every episode, some more important than others, but the games really don't feel the same. What do you like/dislike about fifa?

I'm a die hard FIFA player and I think the game has progressed A LOT since the revolutionary 08' version. Before 08, FIFA's were dominated by their closest rival "Pro Evolution Soccer" (I'll use PES for short). But ever since 2008, PES has stopped dead whilst FIFA has rocketed ahead of it's competition and developed a physically and graphically masterpiece!

All the features in the game leave a lot of room for enjoyment. And it seems PES have stooped low enough to even copy some of the features in an attmept to keep up with it but failed horribly. When FIFA 09' came out, I bought both that and PES. After playing FIFA for about 3 days running, I decided it was time to give PES a go. After about 3 minutes of England Vs. France I switched it off in disgust. The movement was mechanical, the graphics were decent but too arcady and the SFX were absimal (I'd expect no more from CANADIANS. Why would they know how a real football match feels and looks :blank. One thing FIFA has over it's competition is the ability to have so much more official elements in their games such as crwod noises, teams, characteristics, advertisements, stadiums ... you name it! And with the fact they've finally put some effort into their games, it won't be long before PES falls so deep under their shadow that it will be forgotten.

All in all, FIFA is the better of the two and it clearly shows everywhere you look. It takes a bit of getting used to after playing the arcade monstrosity of PES, but once you master it, it's something you'll never put down.

I'm not a big fan of them (mainly because I have troubles with moving, the characters always switch when I'm not noticing or when i do it manualy they switch to the wrong guy).

but i've played lots of games with a couson of mine, and I can say the switch from 09 to 10 was staggering!
everything got way more realistic, some thing got cooler , and the fact you can make a gamerface of you own picture and then upload it to your account to put yourself in the game is pretty sweet.

I like the game, but not for to long, after 3-4 matches its like, not interested anymore (just to play the game again the day after when i'm going back to my couson xD)
