Female SOLDIER

I've been trying to practice my spriting, but my chronic lazyness is impeding on my skill-improvement attempts. I was thinking that I've never seen a female SOLDIER in FF7, so I decided to make one! I know its not very good, but I gave it my all.

I didn't sprite the hair, I frankensprited it from Prisoner02 and recolored it.

Please gve any comments or criticisms, no matter how harsh.

The front facing and backfacing boots are the same?

But it's a fairly nice sprite, probably the only other problem is that the outline is too light.

Yeah, about that...I couldn't figure out how to make the boots look different, so I just copied the front boots and shaded them differently(not that you can tell, anyways...). When I tried to make the outsides even 1 pixel smaller, it would come out looking really off.

Hmm... aside from the previously stated, this looks pretty good. Wait, just remembered, every SOLDIER to my memory (Which I guess is Cloud, Zack, Angeal and the Countless ones I killed in FFVII) wore a paldron on their left shoulder, well... except for Sephiroth, but I've never even seen him wear an actual SOLDIER uniform, so... At any rate, it does look pretty good so far, though.

I think it looks fine. The boots are only like a total of six pixels so not much can be done, lol.

What I would recommend, however, is adding contrast to the hair. It's too light while the rest of her has fine contrast.

XD

@Corona!: Wait, they ALL had a metal shoulder pad? I guess I gotta pay more attention. I'll fix it ASAP. Thanks. >_<

@Venitia: About the hair, I just frankened it from Prisoner02, and I didn't think to look at that. Thank you.

Umm, so nobody has problems with the shading on the uniform at all? I think the pants look bad, but maybe it's just me.

EDIT: I've finished the fix:

I think the outline just needs to be a little darker on the pants. That would make it look a lot better. And about the boots, just make the edges flat on the sides. Look at fighter01's boots to see what I am talking about. Then, the contrast would need to be a little higher so we can see the differences between the front and back views.

Personally, I liked her without the shoulder pads or just lighten the outline of them a little to match the rest of the character, but anyways, keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to the next update.

Snowwolf, I've never seen shading like that. I'll consider it.
As for the update, I'll have it by tommorow.

EDIT: Bad news, internet's on the fritz and I can't get the update on until Saturday. Sorry.

Snowwolf that shading looks like an effect*.*

oh and I think it looks better now apart from make the shoulder pad outlines a tiny bit light.

its not really shading as much as just bevelling it which gives it a rather ugly slimy feel:s. All the same it was nice of them to offer to shade it regardless of the result.

What!? How dare you bash the slightly graphically-challenged FF7! For shame! FOR SHAME!!!

...Just kidding, but still, nothing could really compare to the original. I mean, it was 3D and this is 2D.
Ok, I'll admit, it looks pretty darn close, but it can never be exactly like the original, nor better, IMO.

Thanks for the compliment, at any rate.
Anyone else got something to say about the sprite?
