As Luminier said, it's generally okay to continue the discussion once someone else has brought it up - but only if you are ADDING to the conversation. You, Nphx, had added, and it is fine. If a mod feels the thread is too old or irrelevant to stay, they may close it - but generally you'll be fine.
As Luminier also brought up, female circumcision is very much like cutting off a penis. It, in many ways can be expressed as a sort of castration. Most people think castration, and think of men who have to put a little metal straw like tube into a little hole if they want to pee correctly (damn, I forgot what it's called), but there are forms of castration that remove just the tip, or other parts.
Such castrations leave the male to have very little pleasure, if any, and will usually have to rely on other stimuli to even be able to perform. Like female circumcision there is no pleasure, horrible scaring, but pregnancy can still happen. And like it, it is used to enforce that you do not go around the block in someone else's cabby.
Both are equally barbaric, disgusting, and horribly rude. Vulgar mindsets used to destroy freedoms and enforce traditions so out dated we don't even think of them naturally unless someone brings up the atrocity - and it often sparks a "wha?!".
I've always thought traditions are pointless, cultural heritage irrelevant, and ultimately enforced ideas lead to destruction - this sort of crap is a nice exclamation mark to that statement.
