Favorite horror movies?

I absolutely looooove ghost horror movies, but it seems there are so few good ones out there. *^* I need moooore. Admittedly, I'm a sucker for asian horror, but in the same sense, it's almost harder to find really good ones there, too. I think my favorite is Shutter... The thai version, definitely not the english remake. Dx Anyone else have any good suggestions? <3 I'm in such a horror mood lately, but not sure which ones to pursue, seeing as a lot can just plain suck.

Jacob's Ladder is super creepy, probably my all-time favorite

[rec] is great, it uses the Blair Witch/Paranormal activity format of "hey yo we're real people just makin a documentary and whoooaaa what's goin on"

and um

that's all I can think of :/

it really is hard to find good scary movies

It is >< I haven't actually seen Jacob's ladder, so I'll see if it's on netflix :3 I actually...didn't find paranormal activity scary at all. D: There were so many points in the movie that they COULD have put in something to make it scary, but the onyl part that got to me was towards the end, but it was more of a jump scare, and not an actual eerie scare.

Mine is definitely the shining
I hate horror films because I have a weak heart and get scared but the shining is like so good its not even funny
and its not funny
thats how good it is
o;

Plus anyways the actors are like super good and jesus its just like a tension ball that all of sudden unravels and you are left with some crazed psycho with an axe

Wasn't the shining the one that was modeled after events Stephen King went through at the Stanley Hotel? Or am I thinking of a different movie? I haven't actually seen that one either...but I'm lol'ing at the guy's face on that image xD

there are two versions of the shining that are, yea, based on a novel by stephen king (one of his... let's say, fatter books). Second version is the one that's more in tune to what stephen king's idea what, seeing as he directed or funded it or some crap like that, but the first one got better ratings i think.

I really haven't seen many horror movies that are really that good. Paranormal activities 2 was shit, honestly, something that relied on lights and darkness and loud sounds out of nowhere to scare people, which is cheap imo. I spent most of my time during that movie making fun of my friend and freaking him out (and pulling his hands from his ears)

Let Me In was a freaking amazing movie, although I'm pretty sure that horror wasn't REALLY the main point of the movie. It was super suspensful and like awe dazzling with a bittersweet romance, though, and the horrific scenes were just really awesome.

I have so many but I'll just mention the most recent one. I really enjoyed devil. That movie scared the crap out of me. Truth is, everything scares me but I really thought that it was a great movie.

I don't really like many horror movies, since I don't find any of them scary enough for me. They used to be when I was like way younger, but not so much anymore. :/ I have enjoyed the Night the Living Dead movies (the zombie ones) - but not because they're scary, for nostalgia purposes. XD I do like psychological horror movies, though. The ones that make you have your jaw dropped at the end. ^_^

yeah, paranormal activity had a lot of potential, mainly IMO because it spent so much time setting up the characters as normal people, it actually had a good excuse for why they couldn't just leave the house, and the whole scenario just seemed perfect for some crazy tense horror

then a lot of the tension is squashed by the fastforwarding at night - when it stops you know SOMETHING is going to happen, so it's like whatever let's just do this

also i loooooooooooove horror movies. even bad ones (b/c they're funny). unless they're right on that border between good and so-bad-it's-funny.

among my faves are event horizon & cube.
not so much b/c they're scary (they're not IMO, though many disagree) but they were really well done!

dawn of the dead was a good romp, and 28 days later (28 weeks was ... ok, but the last third was poop's).

the ring was the only movie to ever give me nightmares! i am a sucker for twitchy shit i guess

the silent hill movie wasn't bad. it had some really good scenes (ok well mostly just the scene with PH ripping off that bitch's skin with his bare hand ... made the whole movie for me). but it diverged from the game plot in such frustratingly dumb ways :/ (the game's backstory isn't ground breaking but they certainly did not IMPROVE on it. just changed the parts that were the most disturbing (why change dahlia's association w/ alessa? a bitch burning her own DAUGHTER is a lot better than just some religious cunt).)

i've been wanting to see Centipede (heh)

the first Saw i liked a lot, but god damn they need to stop :|

i liked Thinner a lot. mostly for the scene at the end :X

when i was a kid, arachnophobia made me poop a baby. the movie's held up pretty well over time, so long as you suspend your belief in how they use non-venomous spiders ;x (though i guess someone who doesn't know about spiders wouldn't notice)

Hellraiser scared me half to shit as a kid too but that didn't stand up to the test of time too well ;)

The Omen and Rosemary's Baby are timeless classics.

Mimic was oddly awesome considering the seemingly B-level plot, unless i am just remembering it with too much nostalgia. First movie I ever saw that killed a kid! Whee :D

Is the Alien quadrilogy considered horror? Well then that would be my favorite! If Pitch Black is considered horror, that's pretty up-there, too.

Oh wait, Silence of the Lambs. Oh man this is a tough choice.

WHAT why does everyone say that about 28 weeks later

Am I just a total wuss? that part where they're stumbling around in the dark, looking through the scope is one of the scariest parts in a movie ever for me. :x

i think im just heartless. most death scenes make me laugh :x (the gorier, the funnier, for the most part). i see kids in a horror movie and all i can do is hope they get stomped into kidpaste.

though in 28wl didn't the boy die? now i can't remember.

and yet when when they show animals die/get hurt, i cry out in sadness :x

hmm

i heard pihrannas was AMAZING and i really wanted to see it :<

also ven by centipede do you mean the human one? cause it was SHIT

that movie is so gross why would you ever want to see it

there is also a movie called teeth and its about some woman who has teeth in her kahoodle and she bites off their dingaling leaving only a bloody mess. x:

For the most part I can watch horror movies like saw and hostel because I get scared. :c
i saw Saw and I had nightmares for like 3 days. (i also watched signs and got nightmares as well but oh dear)

I do love corny horror movies though. Black Sheep was pretty cool especially that guy who really likes sheep. My favorite though would be Clowns From Outer Space because lets be honest you cant not like that. And its till kind of creepy but thats because I really dont like clowns.

Jason

Awesome Bro

I really do love horror films, but I mean, I don't find any of them scary, that's okay though because I'd rather watch a film for the story than to be scared, lol.

I couldn't really name all my favourites, although I'd say the Dawn of the Dead remake definitely gets a mention, I thought it was great, although I've not seen the original so I can't compare it. I also love the Freddy films, the Jason films, Freddy vs. Jason, although the two recent reboots weren't too great... and my favourite SERIES is probably the Saw films, I don't know if they count as horror, but for some reason people are scared by 'em (My brother had nightmares after watching the first and fifth...), I mean, a lot of people really dislike the series, and think it's all about torture and stuff, yet I like it for the actual storyline behind it all, I mean, you could take out all the gore and "scary" moments, and I'd still watch it because I just find the story to be amazing, how there's so many plot twists and mindfucks in there, lol... although I haven't seen the last one yet, I've heard it ties some loose ends together, but still leaves a lot of things unanswered, although they were originally planning to make more films, I don't know why they crammed it into this last one... weird.
