They're both good, though Family Guy makes me laugh a ton more than Simpsons.
Family guy is generally stupid and juvenile, but the Simpsons tends to have a bit more humor that people might have to think about. Family Guy bugs me because it just seems to cater to the middle school twits who enjoy it. They do have some funny moments, but neither really is enjoyable for the most part.
I say this from the depths of my soul:
The Simpsons SUCKS. There's no contest at all for me - Family Guy wins hand-down. I have literally NEVER laughed from The Simpsons. Sure, I've chuckled lightly and given the obligatory "heh" laugh that you give when you realize a mildly funny punchline was just dropped, but it has never made me crack up. Ever. Family Guy, on the other hand, has made me bust out laughing on many occasions.
Futurama, on the other hand, is awesome, even though it has the obvious relational ties to The Simpsons. I have no idea why that is, only that they somehow managed to make one of their series completely funny and the other completely unfunny.

Everyone loves the simpsons. All the old episodes were classics but it's quite obvious the new ones aren'y as good. You get the ocassionally decent new episode but they are few and far between. Still, no matter how bad it gets people will still follow it mindlessly because of it's former glory.
Family Guy is a show that I loved ever since I seen the first episode. It is just so much funnier than the Simpsons. More laughs, more lauging out loud... hell I can even repeat lines to close friends and we crack up laughing. I love the randomness, it's just my type of humour.
So while the simspons will always have a place in my heart, and it remains enjoyable I have to side with Family Guy.

I dunno, the Simpsons have gone threw a massive change. Many say for the worse, but some say for the better (I'm not sure who - but I'm sure someone's out there!). People challenge it and condemn it - but let's see anyone run a show for ... wait I actually have to do math here, that's how long they've been around...

I dunno, I can barely keep a joke funny for 18 minutes, let alone 18 years - I'm gonna have to give 'em that - even when the day comes that I come across an episode that doesn't even make me "heh".

I just watched the shinning clip on youtube, (the link was posted earlier in the thread) And oh my god. I laughed so hard.That bit where he scares himself. genius. Its true, the classic simpsons moments are the best, lately, I only watch it because I grew up watching it. In the 90's in Ireland, every weeknight they showed the simpsons at 6. Everyone in the family sat down and watched and laughed. Family Guy has that quirky random humor that I love, crazy joke that make no sense, south park is just plain funny, and futurama is one of my favorite shows. anyone who asks me to choose between them is gettin kicked

Yes, Drew Carey show PWNS, so does Whose Line Is It Anyway?, And Scrubs.
If Scrubs were a cartoon, it'd be the only one on air (Just imagine Dr. Kelso doing outrageously funny cartoon antics!), although it would lose it's shine a little bit.
Also, Indiana Jones the series would Kinda PWN.
Or a show about Iron Maiden.

Family Guy and The Simpsons have both been about even in quality for a while, I did find the Simpsons movie entertaining though, so I'd give it the edge.

I haven't seen the Simpsons shows lately, so I'm going to have to go with Family Guy. However the Simpsons Movie was awesome, possibly the best movie based off a cartoon show ever! (in my opinion anyway....)
I used to have some real love for the simpsons, but in all fairness I think the older episodes haven't really stood the test of time very well and the new stuff is verging on epic failure.
Family guy however is pretty damn funny, a lot of people like to bitch about it for taking the cheapest ways to make you laugh (with it's constant cut aways) but who gives a crap if it's making you laugh? lol

Family guy's humour is stale, too many "I remember the time..." *cutscene* jokes. Another part of it, there's too many racist or offensive jokes in it. I know a offensive once in a while doesn't really bother anybody, but in nearly every episode is pure horror. Family guy wouldn't be too bad if they didn't try to make Peter smart and stupid at the same time with poor execution. Mind it, I did get a few giggles.
That's why I choose Simpsons instead, Homer is stupid 24/7 and is only "smart" in his dreams.
If someone is going to copy someone else's ideas they shouldn't put it to shame. The new series of simpsons isn't so bad, just overated sometimes.
