Failed to obtain a trial serial number from the nTitles server

I just downloaded Rpg maker XP and everytime I open it somthing pops up saying "Failed to obtain a trial serial number from the nTitles server" and it exits from the program. What is this and how do I fix this?

Have you previously downloaded and installed a copy of RMXP? From the sound of it, it looks like the software's looking for a registration serial number already, probably because your trial has expired.

You must have a proper internet connection for this. If the speed is too low, this message pops up. SAme goes to when your computer doesn't have the internet plug-in

well my internet connection is fine...but I use a laptop...so might this cause this problem?

Make sure your firewalls aren't blocking it.

Are you by chance runnign Windows Vista? I had the same problem on mine o.o
To fix this, you either have to run the program in compatibility mode for Windows XP (SP2) (right click rmxp, properties, compatibility tab, check compatibility mode box, and select Win XP SP2). You could also run it as an administrator (on the compatibility tab, click on "Run as Admin Box"

Yeah I am running on vista. I checked the properties but I couldn't find the compatibility tab, all I see are General, Shortcut, Security, and details

I have the same problem.
I run on windows xp,and i am the administrator.
But I don't have an internet connection on the second pc.
Is there a way to do it without using the Internet?

Make sure you right click on the .exe file in the RMXP folder rather than the shortcut on the desktop.
I had problems with Vista too, but it works fine now.

Ok, for Vista users:

Solution 1: Click Start then paste this on the Search box

[B]"C:\Program Files\Enterbrain\RPGXP\RPGXP.exe"[/B]

yes, including the " symbols...

Solution 2: AGAIN, click Start then paste this on the Search box

[B]"C:\Program Files\Enterbrain\RPGXP"[/B]

right click on the game application, named RPGXP, and click on Run as Administrator..

Then IF you still havent activated the program, RMXP will open then the "purchasing" popup appears asking you to buy the license.. Thats it!

I've downloaded, installed, uninstalled, deleted over and over again thinking maybe it was something within the download, and finally this fixed it!  Awesome. Thanks again.
