"Failed to Create Process"

Ok I have had my legal version RPG Maker XP for 2 years now with no problems. Tonight while making my newest game I went to playtest it and got this message "failed to create process" followed by my anti-virus program telling me I have some backdoor something alert. When I tinkered with it before class today it worked fine. I come home and get this. No matter which of my games I have tried I get the same message and the same alert from my anti-virus. Did my program become infected while I was at the school? Is there anything I can do so as not to have to scrap all my games? I foolishly havent backed up my game in awhile (I used to regularly). Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Your anti-virus program should have some sort of feature where you can add exceptions so that certain programs work fine. Try adding RMXP to that list.

You can also try reinstalling RMXP. It would not be a bad idea to back up your project right now anyways.

I checked on the antivirus and I had to go through this whole process to remove the virus but its gone. I am still getting the failed to create process though. I am going to reinstall rmxp this evening. Im just scared I am going to have to scrap my games.  :dead:

You probably just have an overly aggressive antivirus. Just go into the program exceptions, and add the RPG Maker XP .exe file to the list. I'm also wondering, is RPG Maker XP installed on your school computers, or are you using a virtual desktop? (Or thinstall?)

I have never used it on the school computers, just here on my pc. I just uninstalled and tried to reinstall the program and my antivirus (AVG) is seeing it as a threat. It calls it a backdoor.sdbot but I assume its just part of the program that AVG is seeing as a virus. I cannot really find anything on it when I google it. Hopefully its not a true virus....

Had the same problem but found a solution.

I created a new project and I was able to start it without the error message.
As I looked into the folders of my old project and the new one, I found that 2 files were missing in the old one.
So I copied the PSIKey.dll and the Game.exe from the new project folder into the old one and then the error was gone.

Hope this also works for you ;o)

I actually whiped all traces of RMXP from my PC and reinstalled the program but now I am getting other error msgs as well as this one. I think its my AVG that is doing it even though I tell it to ignore. My roomies puter has the same problem with RMXP and has the same antivirus (AVG 7.5 home security home edition). I put it on my laptop which has a different antivirus and it works perfectly.

I am getting a new computer this fall so I will know for sure then.

Thanks for the tip though. :)
