Extra Lesson 2 - Mapping of Forests

Olá friends mappers, I am JuniorMaker, and here ours starts second extra lesson.

As all know in these lessons, I boarding a map specify, and explain a more easy way and fast it exactly to be fact, clearly, it is always good for remembering that other ways exist diverse to develop map the same, but here, I will show as I make, and I believe that is an easy way, and still is in an acceptable level, that probably would be accepted in many projects for there.

In the other lesson, I taught pass-the-I pass, as if it makes a cave and a beach, in this lesson I will teach in fast way and practises, as to make a forest.

Before seeing them to me as if it makes this forest, it would like that those that had not read my previous lessons, read, therefore each lesson approaches a subject different and thus they would be improving in diverse aspects.

Attention! This type of map, requires more attention that the previous ones, the use of layers will be basic here, goes to have moments that we will have that to use layer of events, to function as one 4º to layer of tiles, or either, many very small details involve the construction of a forest, folded attention will be necessary.

1º Pass

-Make a map with any size (you choose), you may want to make lots of small maps for a big forest, but I like to make a big map and let the small ones to something special (like a boss or to find an item), here I will show you a map 50x46, Its highly recommended starts with a map like this size to learn and then make any kind of maps you want.

2º Pass

-Now use the sand autotile to make a path at the whole map, but remember the green area will be covered by trees, and the sand will be where the character moves of course. Be careful to not make squares and rectangles, remember the nature isn't simetric, maybe even these sand paths couldn't exist, but if you make it with a "irrelugar way" it'll looks good. Even in maps with a High Mapping Level you will see paths like these, so don't worry you are in the right way!

-I also included a little river in the forest, It isn't necessary but you can do the way you want/need to.
http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee243/Juniormaker/AulaExtra2-FlorestaSS2.png[/img]

3º Pass

-Starts filling the forest by the contours (like the example).

-Be careful to not make diagonal "lines" of trees, It may happens If you not pay attention.

4º Pass
-Here I just keep drawing at the other side.

-Its important to also to know work with Layers, to really looks like a forest (some density Its very important).
http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee243/Juniormaker/AulaExtra2-FlorestaSS4.png[/img]

-I'll show you some examples of how to work with Layers:
http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee243/Juniormaker/AulaExtra2-Exemplodelayer1.png[/img]           http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee243/Juniormaker/AulaExtra2-Exemplodelayer2.png[/img]

5º Pass

-Fill the contours blanks is the objective here!

-I also recommend the use of shrubs the big and the small ones, with very attention to some places you put them behind some shadow, making the forest more real.
http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee243/Juniormaker/AulaExtra2-FlorestaSS5.png[/img]

6º Pass

-Keep doing the coutour.

-At the end of the sixth step the contour is almost done.
http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee243/Juniormaker/AulaExtra2-FlorestaSS6.png[/img]

7º Pass

-Now all the countour is done.

-You can also use the events layer if needed to override and give it more reality.
http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee243/Juniormaker/AulaExtra2-FlorestaSS7.png[/img]

8º Pass

-Now all the contour is done, fill the green areas (like I said at the begining they will be filled.)

-All note that the path starts to look good and take a form, Its crucial to dont make a square looking at the end.
http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee243/Juniormaker/AulaExtra2-FlorestaSS8.png[/img]

9º Pass

-Ok now the forest is almost done.

-Note that I used more events, thats because after starting detailing I fill the blank spaces and needed the events layer to cover it at all.
http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee243/Juniormaker/AulaExtra2-FlorestaSS9.png[/img]

10º Pass

-The objective here is detaling the forest.

-Use the autotiles to give the sand path a better look.

-Use the dark green autotile (in the first layer) behind the trees, but not all the trees, try it with a random way.

-Use the grass to do small close areas (dont do a big one) fixing the edges, and in the middle of a grass and another use the green autotile, It will give the forest's ground a nice look. Do something like this:
http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee243/Juniormaker/AulaExtra2-Exemplodegramas.png[/img]

- The flowers and plants also can be used, depending on what you want to make it look like, use as many as you want.

-After all you also can use other resources like stones, trunks... after doing that your forest will look like this:

Good staff, this was a strategy to make "a bacana" forest in an easy and fast way, but I want to leave here clearly that nor all the forests WILL HAVE thus of being, type, you he can vary, he can for little sand in the ways, perhaps ties none, this goes to depend on you, and of as this varying the forests of its game.

If you post your map I will rate it and give you some tips.

Good, for today it is alone, I wait that it has obtained to help vocês to improve your levels of mapping.

Thanks for the attention
