Event only triggers once

Hi, sorry to bother you all again, but for the life of me I can't get this to work.

I need a text event to trigger only once, even though the event may be passed over many times.

I tried setting up event like this:
Page 1
Under list of event command area
Conditional Branch:(potion) in inventory
@
Else
@
Branch End
Control self switch A is on
(the trigger is set to player touch)

Page 2
(the trigger set to player touch)
Under Conditions: Self switch A is checked
Under List of Event commands area is blank.

My idea of thinking is just before player leaves the area they receive a potion thus triggering the event when passed at only that one time.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Not sure if I understand you but I think you want to have an event that gives you a potion and the next time you pass it it won't give you one?
If so then just make an event that has Player Touch on like this:

@> Change Items: Potion 1
@> Control Switches: Potion Event on

Then make a blank page.
