event moved onto another event to activate another event

Hi can someone explain in DETAIL how I can do this little problem I'm having
with events in RMXP please.

i have a boulder event, switch event, spike event on a map, i want to move the
bolder in any direction but be able to move it ontop of the switch event that will
then make the spikes event lower so i can pass, if the bolders moved off the
switch event the spikes will raise again.

I understand it has something to do with event locations, X-Y thingy but I've tried
now for nrly 2 weeks to try and figure this out but for the life of me
i realy cant. Please can someone post a small picture tutorial, as i'm really not
that good at understanding these things with just writing posts, or maybe if your
AWESOME maybe a demo.
