Error after error... can't testplay or view animations without immediate shutdown.

I searched and searched to see if there was a thread like this... and sadly, there's not. So I'm left with no choice but to put off game development again to get this one fixed.

I finally managed to get RMXP to work on the computer after a todo, running as administrator didn't help. Apparently, the RTP was not installed correctly or something. Now, I wanted to make sure it was fully operational and what do you know, it's not.

I tried to testplay, and it says "RGSS stopped working and must be shut down". If that's not enough, when clicking to play the hit animation I get "Critical Error C000005 at address 000000" the the whole darn thing shuts down. Anyway have this problem before? I usually figure this stuff out for myself but I'm hoping someone can beat me to it. >.<

Thanks in advance!

Note: I have Windows Vista if that counts...

Re-Install? I guess I could try that.. man... after I just went through all that trouble importing. >.<

I think had to do that before anyway...

EDIT:

Didn't work.... any other suggestions anyone?

I am having the same problem, as soon as I go to playtest I get the windows XP blue screen of death and then my computer completely reboots. It NEVER ever crashed before, and I have tried everything(Uninstalling and reinstalling, repairing the install, updating all my drivers, etcc...)

have you scanned for spyware and viruses?
or registry?

if so what do you use.

blue screen of death can be a virus I had it a while ago

I am using AVG Antivirus, but I don't see how it could be a virus since A) It only crashes when I am playtesting my game and B) I just wiped out my hard drive and started all over, because I thought maybe I had a virus and its been about a year anyway since the last time I did it. But it crashed before I reformatted and it's still doing it afterwards. Although I have narrowed it down to performing certain actions namely A) Giving a player a new skill and B) Closing playtest mode. Everything else seems to work ok so far.

Ok, so it seems the problem is with my sound card, a diamond 7.1 multimedia something or other. I'm not sure if its my sound card alone or a compatibility issue with RMXP, but when I removed my sound card and went back to onboard sound, I haven't gotten a single crash.

Bottom line: If you get the blue screen of death, theres a good chance your sound card may be the issue.
