That's kind of a neat, cute concept. Regarding story: I don't think there has to be "a" story, but I think you can incorporate storytelling elements (ie. small-scale drama) that add flavor. In a way, even a little quest is a little story. I think the important thing is guiding/motivating the player, but it sounds like you already know that and are addressing it in detail.
Anyway, overall it looks like it's going in the right direction.
About that: Can you stay in every region for a limited amount of time, because you have to guide the sun, or can you stay in every region as long as you want?

That is still a work in progress. While it may sound like a great idea at first, staying in a region for an hour is probably going to be too long. And if someone is in the middle of doing something, and times runs out, well that would really suck. I think I am goin to make it as long as you want, bacause I doubt a player is going to want to stay in an area that long.
Money
As you continue your journey, you will also gain money. Money can be used to unlock new quests, buy houses and upgrades, unlock new lands, and even unlock bonus features.
The story seems ok to me, poor Helios = (. about the Art work= simple & gets the job done, people must understand flashy graphics don't make a game good. I'm glad you have your own style. I like that sprite too.
Quick Question: If they always lived in darkness and there was no sunlight, why would they pray for an end to the darkness? How would they know there was something other than darkness? If darkness was ultimate, wouldn't they not have a concept of light? xD
Well, they might not know about "sun"light, but they'd know about light from candles and fires, no? So it seems reasonable to me that they'd want light to be everywhere instead of just darkness all the time.
Wow, another update.
You seem to be pretty on top of this Becoolioman.
Anyway, your game still looks good, I supose it will be fine with out a story line to follow.
The Money and AP purchase idea seem pretty good that way
you have to work in two diferent ways to succed I guess.
Also the new screens look cool though I am wondering how you will portray the low
temperatures in Nuhar Forest with out the use of snow. If you dont do something it will
seems as if it is just a normal forest and it will be pointless claiming it is cold.
What I think is that there should be a Main Story for each location in addition to the little sidequests that unfolds little by little with each passing day.
There could be a lot of humorous things going on with these stories, or you could add some more serious stuff to balance out the regular sidequests. But unlike the sidequests, which probably last no more than one or two days (idk), the main story (or stories) of each location would unfold slowly as Eos makes her rounds (just a little scene somewhere in each location), and just like everything else, it could be completely optional, so it shouldn't feel forced, keeping the sandbox feel while still giving people who like a good story in a game satisfied. These stories would probably culminate in harder or more fulfilling sidequests. It might also give a slightly more grandiose feel to it once the player has analyzed everything, contrasting the "here and now" of the sidequest-based gameplay.
Think Final Fantasy Chronicles, where the heroes go around the world collecting myrrh to save their town every year. There is lots of story shown through random events, but none of it feels forced. The premise of that game overlaps slightly with that of your game, so I just thought I would mention it. Unlike FFC, you probably wouldn't have a "final dungeon" or an ending.
I really like the idea of going around the world, guiding the sun! It would probably be a fresh, fun experience, whether you take my advice or not!
Sounds like a fun game
I don't know if you were planning on doing this or anything, but I think it would be cool to have quests that start in one zone and you have to do tasks in other zones to complete it. It would help make everything feel connected.
Great work so far though, I like the art style :D
Hey guys, just wanna let you know that I am recruiting. :D
I havent gotten any luck so far, so I might as well post the recruitment message here too.
(its in the first post)
If you are making a sandbox game like this in rpg maker you should check out A home Far Away on rm2k3. It will help you out. Same style of gameplay.
Also, I only glanced over them, but from your screenshots it shows you use arrows for out of view doors but not others. Can you not find a better way to do this? Better yet, not have side doors, they don't suit the perspective of the rtp. You should be consistent on using arrows for all entrances or none at all. How about a simple icon above all doors if you insist on having horizontal doors.
I plan to change those arrows into a more simpiler red arrow. I understand what you are saying and I shall fix this consistancy error. I still plan to have horizontal doors, though I can see what I can do with the suggestions you make. And thanks for the pointer for another game, I shall check this out and maybe takes some thoughts and ideas and incorporate them into my own game.
Looks interesting so far. Are the sprites you need mostly frankensprites and edits? If so, I might be able to help. As long as it's nothing from scratch. (Still learning that.)
Dang there is only spriter and scripter positions left, witch I suck at... ( Wait I dont even know the basics lol)
Is it ok if I be the following job/position:
Eventer
Mapper
Idealist ( Never mind, too many of them anyway.)
Writer ( See above)
Helper with any little tid bits.

Well, I was thinking about having 2 idealists, but I was thought other wise. Then again, the more different views someone has, the more successful it becomes. So yes, I would be hapy if you joined me.
