Enelysion: Red Dawn

Some of you may or may not remember me. My first project over here was a crappy fan-game by the name of Phantasy Star: Beneath a New Light. I scrapped it months ago, and since then, I have been working on an original project called Enelysion.

This is a project that deals with the inner conflicts of the human soul and psyche, and the abominations you will encounter are the very embodiment of those feelings. So, if you're expecting a game where your characters eventually evolve into demi-gods and take down some super-powered one-winged angel or another, this isn't a game for you. Enelysion is a project between human beings, and their inner struggles, desires and fears, which I personally find far more interesting.

STORY:

Nearly three centuries have passed since the founding of the four nations of Elendia and the legend of Cuchulain.

In Chapter One: ( Already avaliable )

Laine, a mercenary of an even temperament living in the town of Landen, recieves an unusual summoning by a hooded stranger after coming into contact with a strange glowing orb. He warns her that everything she holds dear will soon be in grave peril. She dismisses his talk as the 'ramblings of a lunatic' and proceeds to take on a job at the local pub, which also serves as the mercenary headquaters, yet she cannot quell the thought that she is being watched by some unknown force...

In Chapter Two: ( Release date TBA )

It is the calm before the storm. An organization, long-thought extinct, rises up from the shadows to put an end to their sworn enemies. Two countries are in turmoil, and the kindle for the flames of strife are already laid down. Two knights, entrusted with an important mission, only add to the intrigue that is currently plaguing the continent of Elendia... How do Laine and her companion Patrick fit into all this? All this and more will be revealed in Chapter Two of Enelysion: Red Dawn.

Features

- A rich detailed universe full of plot twists and uncovered secrets.
- No random encounters. Fight or flight, it's entirely your decision.
- A fully customized, rich and orchestral soundtrack ( no commercial game music ).
- Detailed ( or as detailed as I can make them ) maps to bring this wonderful world to life. Plenty of exploration to be done as well.
- Simple, turn-based combat. No frills, or bells and whistles. But still fun.

DOwNLOAD -It's around 2 or so hours long and 107mb in size. Blame it on the custom music. ><

Well, that's that for now. :) Stay tuned for updates.

O.o Where is the download link? Why would you post something this amazing and not have something that is playable?! Awesome screens, awesome characters, awesome in all! I can't wait to see where this goes.

Finished it. It was pretty tough. Took me a couple hours. But I didn't find out until the caves that I could sprint with the shift key. Also died a bunch of times and I would have to go back and pick all the items and buy equipment all over again.
Overall the presentation was excellent. The maps, the dialog, the battle system, all great. There is a little too much History to absorb in the beginning and they don't refer back to any of it until the end of the chapter. I spent so much time running around in-between that I completely forgot everything that was said.

Some issues I had:
Rolf has such low HP in the beginning he would get hit a couple times and only have like 5hp so Lanie would automatically cast guard on him (as if that would help), and that would end her turn without attacking or using a skill that I selected for her. This left me very confused in my very first battle with Rolf. Is it suppose to end her turn?

The optimize option doesn't take into account what the the character is already wearing. It seems to only pull from inventory. So I'd use it and equip new armor but it would switch my sword with an older one. Press it again it would give me the newer sword back but put on the old armor again.

Some passability issues in the caves, nothing game breaking although I've no clue what the pillars engravings hinted at. Since there were gates I couldn't unlock I figured it must be something later in chapter 2.

The skip scene option that comes up right after the last battle seems like a bad idea. Having "Yes" as the first option. I would be too easy to accidentally skip it and have to replay the battle again to see what you missed. If there was another hard battle after it then that would make sense. But "no" should be the first selection.

@RadethDart: I'll add a Download link to the OP, then. :)

@coyotecraft: This version of the game ( released for the first time back in May 2011 at rpgmakervx.net ) is a little harder than the current version I'm working on, and I do admit that Rolf/Patrick's HP is a bit low here, so it can be an issue keeping him alive at times.

If Rolf/Patrick goes below 50% of his MaxHP, then Laine automatically does her 'Guard' skill and it does cancel out any action you were going to do.

Also, the general open-endedness of the game can make exploring a bit difficult, so a future release will feature a world-map, and Laine will actually indicate whether you can go to that area or not, so as not to confuse the player. The current version that I'm now working on is alot more polished in every area, but it will have to wait, I'm afraid. :)

But I hoped you enjoyed it, even with all those flaws.
