Dead Content Empirus Chronicles EP1// Emerald Skies

Dead content awaiting restoration.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v644/ultrakool9876/EC01.png[/img]

For a quarter of a millennium, our Empire has, remarkably, kept the peace. Peace is all we had known, all we had lived. We never knew major conflict, crises or war.

Everyone was someone in our society. Everyone was worth something.

Corruption in the government? Never heard of it. Our public officials were elected truly by the people.

But our orderly world was...not what it seemed. We thought we were a strong Empire able to withstand nearly anything.

We basically owned the world...but I am convinced now that there are things in this world that should not be seen, should not be touched, should not fall into the hands of humans.

And then came the whispers.

Whispers of arcane arts long lost to the winds of time. And a few spoke out...

Could it be? The ancient Magical arts were about to be rediscovered?

Magic? Hah. We ignored them, shunned them...told them to stop believing in the fairy stories. After all, we had our own kind of magic now...called "technology", made by humans and made for humanity.

And then a man...a Deceiver... rose in power. Through the ranks of the military he became very decorated, every medal and honour of any sort was pinned on his lapel. This man became somewhat of a celebrity to his fellow Altessians.

And he harboured a secret lust for the ancient magical arts.

Thus started the downfall of the Empire of Altessia.

Attempting to overthrow Emperor Mobius of Altessia in a coup d'etat, the Deceiver was banished from the Empire forever...

...rather unsuccessfully.

Seizing the capital of the South of Altessia, he claimed all of Southern Altessia for himself and called his new empire "Demagus". And he plunged his people into destitution.

And 8 years ago, my father was part of the resistance. Even though our area was not controlled by the Deceiver, my father knew secrets. Secrets that could push our world into another War of Arcana...if they fell into the wrong hands.

That was the prelude...to the second War of Arcana. My father was betrayed and my country invaded. But still, nobody knew the secrets of the Ancients.

And then...

Three bullets.

Three bullets meant for me.

Three bullets...that changed my life...and the history of the world forever.

BIG HUGE UPDATE
Demo: http://www.sendspace.com/file/5p9210
Game play time: 30-45 minutes, 8% Complete
File size: 21.9 MB

Note: You NEED to install this font to read any of the game's text. It's the font, "Forgotten Futurist College". I should have fixed this, any ideas on how I can fix this for my next demo?
Install it here.

hmmm... a decent story, but well written. Looks ambitious enough. =D
looks like you mixed a few too many graphical styles, though. :\

Good story, but I hope you aren't using those faces... x_X

Also, the medieval/fantasy theme of the RTP clashes HEAVILY with the modern setting.

I work with what I can...for some aspects of the game I can find futuristic graphics to use, and for others I have no choice to use the RTP because it is extremely hard to find any futuristic/modern graphics. But then again, some places in the game are futuristic, and some are relatively fantasy-esque, though the game takes place in the future.

...And no, I'm not using those faces.:P It's just to give you an idea of what the character will look like in the final version of the game.

Zadeon.
This is by far the single worst game I've ever seen.
...
...
...is what I'd be saying if that were true. It took you long enough to post! ^^ Tellos ftw! Kinda...>_> Demo yet?

I downloaded the demo... and all I can say is... YOU FORGOT TO GIVE US THE FRIGGIN' FONT, lol.

It's a good thing that you supplied us with an unencrypted version, since I could change the default font. But please, next time give us the fonts :D

Apart from that, the game is really good. Pretty interesting plot, this IS a promising game. I hope you complete it.

oh snap!
Ok, don't panic anyone. XD I will post the font when I get home from school at around 3:30 pm eastern time.

EDIT: Never mind, I was able to do it from my school computer, at 11:15. Enjoy my game!

Hmm...
>_> The funny thing about this game...is it's posted on my coc..-screen ^D^
So anyway...
Demo = Rocking!! Keep it up brother ;D

What battlers do you need? I know Cale and Silas so far but who else?
Every other non-villain main character...Aurelia Malloche, Lera Dalmasca, Tellos, and Barrett. I can go without battlers, because I made an animation that indicates which character is attacking instead of the character's battler flashing.

UPDATE:
Added Vash's Tales of Symphonia menu system. It's simply amazing. :D
I will add a demo with the ToS menu system soon.

From what I've played of the demo so far (Which isnt much, I must admit), the dialogue between the guard and Cale seems pretty uninspired. "Now, boy, I know your pa was killed by the chap whos about to visit, so now we're going to kill you, so you dont kill him from inside your jail cell. OK?" I'm paraphrasing, as far as I know, but I wasn't struck by that.

Apart from that, however, I like it. The battle system seems fairly well balanced so far, and the battles themselves are pretty fun. I shall keep a lookout on this. (Wow, I sound really up myself. Don't be put off ;))

I think I spent all my inspiring dialogue in the opening scene. :P I need to work on that, and it'll most definitely be fixed in the next demo-- which will be coming out on or before January 27th. I also meant for the large assembly-type meeting to be for all the prisoners, which would mean that the guard would have a good reason to kill Cale. I then changed it later to a meeting of all the guards for plot reasons. :D

...Done. I had to look high and low for it, because it was gone off rmxp.org! thanks for your help. Next demo will include the UMS as well as more spiffy gameplay and dialogue.

Not bad, not bad.
I found that blue colored guy guarding the door to Maxwell's speech extremely easy. Two spells and he was done on the first turn. Like 89 damage each spell. I hope you find some good help to get all those graphics to conform to a single style. Also, this might seem rude or something, but I think you should try some different names.
Aurelia Malloche, Lera Dalmasca, Silas. Tellos and Barrett scream Final Fantasy at me. I've heard of Dalmasca in RPGs before, not to mention there is a famous city in the middle-east called Dalmascus. Aurelia could be more unique, but its decent. Maybe I'm just nitpicking?
You might want to try making a spot that both heals and lets you save.
Overall, it was good. I was kept interested long enough to get to the end of the demo. Or at least what I assume was the end of the demo. I think people should let players know when they've reached the end.

YES, graphical conformity is what I need the most in this game, more than anything! Due to the nature of my game, I'm forced to use the medieval/fantasy based RTP on a futuristic game! I NEED YOUR HELP, if you're interested, PM me or email me.
With 14 mainstream games and probably >9000 characters, these days it's hard to make a game with characters who don't resemble anyone from the Final Fantasy series.  ;D And yes, Dalmasca is a city in FFXII (and the city in real life is called Damascus), but it also makes for a fairly decent last name, no?
And yes, some of the spells are somewhat unbalanced, and I'll fix that right up, but then again, I might give the spell system a complete overhaul, due to plot reasons.

Making a spot which both heals and saves is a great idea, I'll do it. And yes, the end of the demo was where you beat the Tankbot on the streets of North Demiel, though I think I included a part with a message from me, thanking the player for playing and to watch for an updated demo. (Which, by the way, is coming soon. ;))
