EEK!

Alright. I participate in FIRST, and learned some C this year. However, next year we're using C++, and I'll have to train a couple people on how to use it.
I know almost nothing about it, apart from the origins of its name.

Do you know anything I can use to learn C++ by...September to October?

EDIT: Know any good places for PHP, too?

Just look for tutorials online. I think W3C has some PHP lessons, and I know there are billions of C++ Support forums. Try Google.

PHP you can learn from lots of places, there isnt 1 *best source* for PHP stuff though unfortunatly, when i started it i was quite often just posting questions i had in forums...

I used to write C++ tutorials for a small game dev community a few years ago, you are welcome to have a look incase they help:

C++ introduces the object orientated login ontop of the C based syntax, so you no longer just have structs you have the ability to use classes, you also are able to use generics and other OO based techniques. If you need to teach people it just start from the bottom:

- Learn variables
- Learn simple syntax
- Learn simple operators
- Learn simple writing out to screen
- Get them to make a simple app (calculator or such)

That gives most people enough of a taster into C++, although i would be a bit worried as one of your students if you were teaching something you dont understand...
