Dwight's Green Outdoors Tileset

Dwight's Green Outdoors Tileset

Lesson (Not Related): Artists have several types of approaches when making tilesets or sprites. Tilesets are not always in pixel art or painted everything in bitmap. Thus, not all tileset or sprite makers just paint in bitmap.

The words I used to label the different areas in the tileset are Tagalog words.

Tileset History
Old Tileset

Updated Tileset:

What's new in the updated tileset?
Added shadows as requested.
Remove the tree with rough leaves and painted a new suitable looking one.

My first plant pieces drawn in mspaint.

The newer plant pieces also drawn in bitmap.

You can tell that an artist is a really good artist because when they draw, your eyes might tell no difference. Try to look at the two pictures below.

Tileset View:

The first is my own rendition while the other is my reference.
They look much identical, don't they?

Zoomed Image:

But then if we use the zoom function, we can all see that my own rendition is simpler than what is in the rtp. But why I just copied as what is in the rtp? This was because when I started making the tileset, I tried to turn the original rtp in my own drawings. I wanted to make the same tileset but got lazy so I ended just drawing the wood, the stumps, and one flower. There are other drawings I did not include in the green outdoors tileset like the sunflower

Note: To effectively use the tileset, you may need to adjust the saturation. This tileset is not complete nor good enough, that's why I posted this so people can critic. Just cautiously criticize, please. You might find that some pieces do not harmonize with the others, this is because the tileset is only an add-on where you can add them on other complete tilesets.

Few extra trees below:

thats some pretty neat foliage! I think some of the leaves under buno look a bit odd(meaning i personally don't like the shape... not that there's anything wrong), but the rest looks amazing :D

same here. But a few of the trees could use a shadow. They don't look that good without on. And can you re-shade a few of the trees?

Oooh! Brilliant! You really deserve many comments (and thanks) for this one. I personally think that the flowers were too bright, but it's still a great work!

for cactus, that's because the leaves were re-sized from its original larger size. For misttribe, I will add the shadows of the trees then update the edited tileset soon... for adelaidechooc, that's why I added the note. =)

This is so weird.

It's like, some of these things, like the bamboo, or a few of the flowers, have fantastic pixelling.

Then other things, like the trees, are pillow-shaded aborations.

There's no like, median level of skill here that makes it look like one person did it. It's all over the map.

Then I will do my best to make it look nicer. The wood were redrawn, I also used the same color palette from the rtp. You can only differentiate them when you zoom to the images closely. Believe it or not I draw them all and please, this tileset was not meant to be used directly because, they are just actually a collection were you can call it as an add-on for other complete tilesets.

I'm loving that bamboo looking tree. :D I'd love it if you did some more like that, to add some flexibility in making a bamboo forest. I bet I'm not the only one. ^^
