Well first of all I kinda didn't notice it was a chick until you said so. A lot of her features like the neck are more geared toward a man's proportions like the adam's apple you drew on her neck. Also keep the line on the right that goes in the V but get rid of the one on the left and don't make it so long. Also the shoulders towards the neck that go up are too broad. Only a man would have those buff proportions unless she's really working at the gym. Curve them down and up for perfection. Also the neck does seem a little bendy like a bendy straw, I'm sure you can work it out. Also for the hair the hair at the top left seems to be all going in one direction which is fine, but I think you might have made it slightly a little to tall on the left side or too short on the right. It should show an outline of a circle at some point whether there's hair going everywhere or not.

Good job on your drawing, I really like the detail and don't take my critique as a harsh thing but more like a comment that you should consider and take if you think it will help you.

youre right, it looked normal to me since her heads tilted to the side

thnx for the input, im shooting for a more realistic art style, maybe thats why i put too much detail than i should have. but then again once i upload a male portrait then youll see the difference between the two. thanks again.

What he means concerning the neck, is that the more lines and definition you put into it the more muscled and therefor masculine it will seem. If you're trying to make her a little androgynous then ignore this.

I do agree with the neck, the way you've shaded it in the middle of the neck looks a lot like an adam's apple.

It's great that you've got really clean lines, which can be hard in pencil sketches.

hey thats pretty nice, i dig it. she does look a bit androgynous but thats not really a bad thing unless you didn't intend it.

the shading on the neck def looks like an adam's apple. women have cartilage around their larynx too, and sometimes you'll see a woman who looks like she has the makings of a prominence there but usually they are not so defined and people mostly define it as a very masculine characteristic so it would be best to avoid it.

also the philtrum--that little groove between the nose and the upper lip--is shaded in a way that makes it seem she has a cleft lip or no philtrum at all.
an example of the way light hits the philtrum

as far as anime shading goes otherwise it looks to be about right. they like to economically block out portions to shade or highlight in a minimalist way and it seems like you got it. there would be a bit of shading around the hair parts in her scalp however.

any comments on her or on the dude?

All I can say is that you seem to draw males perfectly, and it definitely has something to do with what you stare at all the time. Go stare at a bunch of chicks four about 5 hours and then come back and try to draw a female with how you think she should look.

sticking with it is the best thing to do, although that can be kind of a pain when you're dealing with paper and eraser damage. :x

she's looking much better! the face is still rather androgynous but still feminine - she reminds me a little bit of Lightning from FFXIII. her face looks alright as it is in my opinion but if you want her to be a super girly-girl you might try to make her nose a little bit pointier and her face less elongated.

her shoulders do look pretty small, unless you're going for a slighter-above-her-head perspective angle in which case, you'd see more depth in her goggles. if it's intended to be a straight-on profile, i would widen her shoulders a bit.

the only problem I see right now is she has no nipples (also, drawing on line paper is a big no-no)
i wasnt going to waste more blank papers, that is until i found another folder full of them.

made a profile drawing, this is my first attempt:
33mxw1h.jpg

edit: fixed upper lip and eyebrows.

something about it is not feminine. the lips, for one, and something about the thickness of the eyebrows, it think. basically, without the eyelashes, it'd be a (slightly) feminine man
