The colors are Gold (White) and Scarlet (Black). Turns occur like standard chess.

Remember, I DID NOT MAKE THE RULES! This was made by a guy called Gary Gygax and it belongs to him. I'm just making it into a real game, not just a chapter in a book (it was featured in a story he wrote). And, since Mr. Gygax died recently, I will be dedicating this game to him. Just that much more incentive to get it finished ^_^

Thanks to the help of GubiD, I now have a working Chess System, able to work with all of the piece movements and capturing. However, I still do not have a checkmate check or an AI. The next release should show a playable version, at least with standard matches, and I require a new programmer for that. So, anyone willing to spend a lot of time programming a chess AI, of any kind, please contact me.

I might adjust the rules slightly, since Gygax never finished working out all of the kinks to the system. Hopefully, by the third demo, I should have a full campaign mode worked out, which I have been planning on from the start, and a way to customize the matches, if possible. If nothing else, I will have locations to select and AI difficulty. "Zeke's" gotta be able to be beaten, after all, while still being a challenge.

For now, the only demo is a list of the rules and movements for the game. This will teach you how to play and will be viewable in the final game as well.

This is actually quite unique! Good job! I like your RPG character oriented monsters and the different "zones"

Will sky monsters ever face off against earth monsters etc.?

Yes, actually. There are certain pieces that are able to change boards. All but the Cleric, however, become weaker when they are away from their realm. There are also certain pieces that can affect another board without switching. The dragon, for example, is able to capture a piece that is directly beneath it on the Earth board without moving.

This is one of the few projects I have seen that has caught my attention. Good luck with this, I would love to see it finished.

I love the idea of different boards.

Is there some sort of storyline to it? It should have one! ^^; ...I think...

At the moment, there is no chance at a story line, since there is currently no AI opponent. However, if I can install one, I was planning on some sort of campaign/story mode.

This is awesome :D I hope you finish this game. Too bad I suck at chess, though. But this is indeed one of those one-of-a-kind games you just don't see too often in RPG Maker.
Something about thsi game reminds me of Battle Chess for the old Commodores/90s computers where the pieces animate when they went to battle :P

I am planning on having battle sequences for the pieces. Different pieces will battle in different ways depending on which piece is fighting which. The battle sequences will be pure event, so I'll be the one working on it, not the scripter... whoever (s)he happens to be

It is a good Idea, although it could use better graphics IMO.

Also there are loads of tutorials in Chess AI search for them, GameDev as some cool ones. It will not be hard to script the AI bais then you just need to improve it. Good Luck.

Ex-Scripter :D

Great, I don't know a thing about scripting, and you're asking me to improve upon an advanced one...

I will take a look though. There might be one simple enough to modify into my chess style.

You should actually be able to accomplish all the movement with eventing.  The AI, damn, making a decent AI for a simple board game is tough, for dragon chess, I can't even imagine, man.  Good luck with the project in any case.

That's what I'm trying to do right now, but it's only a place holder until I can get a decent movement script for it.
