Develompment Engine: Construct 2
Coding: HTML5/Javascript
Works best in Google Chrome, since FireFox doesn't support WebGL!

What is it?
The DKCW engine is an HTML5 based game engine made using Scirra's Construct 2. When released, anyone using Construct 2 will be able to create their own browser based Donkey Kong Country games, free for everyone to play. Our aim isn't to make a game, it's for fans to make their own.

What's it current status?
As of this post, and for the time being, the DKCW is not finished. What we want to do is gauge interest before continuing with development.

What can I do?
Simply play the demo made using the engine, give us feed back, and share the game with other people. All we need to see is sufficient interest before we decide on continuing development.

Current Feature Set:
-Support for different characters with different stats (jump height, speed, etc...)
-Blast Barrels
-Moving Platforms
-Walking/Jumping Enemies
-Flying Enemies
-Bananas!
-Flying Levels (With Funky Kong)

Planned Feature Set:
-Implementation of Diddy, Dixie, and Kiddy
-Support for Animal Buddy Transformations
-Barrel Interaction (Pick Up/Throw)
-More stage features (Bouncy Tires, Crocodile Heads)
-Bonuses
-etc...

Videos:
Video: Sample Boss
Video: Sample Level

Thanks!
One of the benefits of Construct 2 is that it's pretty well geared for making platformers and it doesn't seem to demanding spec-wise. Other than some bugs and kinks, the DKCX at least looks/feels pretty faithful so far.

Do you have any ideas on how you want to develop this? Or is it just for testing the engine? You could make something REALLY cool out of this!

This will essentially be an SDK for people to make their own fan games. I'm hoping it's the users that will make the really cool things and I'll just provide the tools. Honestly, I'd have more fun making the engine than making an actual game, but I wouldn't rule that out completely.

I think a good idea to do would be implement joypad support. Im not familar with Construct so I dont know how that works. Good luck bud!!!

One more game that would be a lot more enjoyable if the controls weren't ZXC... keep in mind that on a German keyboard (amongst a few others), Y and Z are exchanged.

It really plays surprisingly awesome, though... I get the feeling that he's not building up as much speed as he did in the original games, but that might just be me... but yeah, a really cool piece of project you got there!

Hey guys, long time no update.
Version: r3

What's new:
-Picking Up/Throwing Barrels
-Rolling Bouncy Tires/Stationary Bounce Tires
-New, original Stage Graphics
-World Map System (based on a photo album)

What's changed:
-Jump Physics
-Roll Physics
-Donkey's overall speed/jump height

My goal is to have several levels in this world, each showing off different enemies and stage styles including mine carts, animal transformations, vertically oriented stages, and potentially new, puzzle solving levels. With all those examples and some documentation, it will be easier for people to make their own game based on the engine, I hope.

Dude you should totally make a game based on this. I know you are doing a SDK, but I think you could pull off a nice game with what you are making as well.
