Does Halo = Overrated?

Halo 1 was an okay game.

it was fun , especially the versus mode. ( split screen :D )
at blood gultch or whatever it was called..

Halo 2 they did have good ideas like the double wielding weapons , but the game was ass.

and halo 3 i have no interest in so yeah..

i do agree i think its way too overated.

there was nothing mind blowing about it.

all it was was

"el oh el, space dood3 vs teh aliens"

but it was fun for a little while.

I don't believe Halo 1 is overated, since it is the best shooter that I ever played in my entire life(Yes, I'm a "halo lover"). I like to play it near my house, where therea are much better players than me and we join in 4 Xbox in a 8 players multiplayer. Play Capture the Flag with two teams of 4 it's priceless.

But, for me, Halo 2 entirely sucks. No one of my friends liked it, too. The gameplay for multiplayer is pretty bad... and the maps are horrible and not well playable. If halo 3 continues like that, it seems like we'll stick to Halo 1...

Oh, and I already played all the other shooters that you guys talked about... Halo 1 really is the best, at least for me...

I always think a majority of the Halo fans have never played a PC shooter. CS, Battlefield, Operation Flashpoint, etc... Halo just had nothing on those which is why I alway thought how was it so revolutionary.

Though I guess for a console shooter...... I'd pick the original Doom for the snes over it any day.

Well said, Prexus. Well said. I got into a debate with some friends today where they were listing "innovative" features from Halo and I was listing games that already had them before Halo was released. I wish I could remember them all.

Halo is fun only because of the stigma attatched to it that if you bring a bunch of XBOXs to a party, you are almost guarrented(sp?) to be having fun. Playing with like, 2-3 people sucks though, since the maps are generally big and it's boring. Otherwise, it's a good party game since most people refuse to touch my gamecube for Super Smash Bros or Mario PArty.

The Halo series is definitely overrated. That's not to say it's bad, just overrated. It's hella fun but not as good as everyone makes it out to be. Therefore by definition it is overrated.

I always pull pretty big crowds away from Halo parties with Super Bomberman. Hell, I sat in back with the only attactive girls in the bunch having way more fun than the rest.

Hell, the only people who DIDN'T like super bomberman were the 12 years olds who said it had "shitty graphics."

*Sigh*

To be honest, the most fun I had playing it (the original) was on the second level, when you first get the Warthog (My friend and I got a marine in it and we'd drive to the cliff and throw it off to see if the marine survive, or we'd just attach as many plasma grenades to it as possible before exploding)

Actually... that was really fun. Yeah, Halo's a pretty fun game, but it is WAY overrated.

That's because Bomberman ownzzzzzzz.

Halo is an excellent game. Both are among my favourites, and I spend hours on Halo 2 MP. Yet, I agree that it's overrated.

While both excellent games, they aren't 'The greatest games ever made!1!!!' and I'm certain that 'No game will ever top it!' is a downright lie.

I played Halo when it first came out and thought it was a good game, it's vehicles were fun to drive and added more than just a standard FPS.

I didn't feel like I had had a life changing experience after finishing it, neither did I feel deeply moved to beg for a sequel for years it was just ok.

Halo 2 was a different matter, totally ruined the first game with it's uneven weapons and BAD BAD BAD story line ( inexcusable really with an ending like that.) Multiplayer wasn't as fun either really, I think I tried each map like twice and then just put that game away.

Halo as a serious is over rated, you would think it have revolutionized gaming the way people go on about it, like it created 3d, or any sound that wasn't midi/ monotone.

Halo 3's hype is getting pretty stupid as well, I really hope they don't disappoint people because after a shocking game like Halo 2 the die hard fans deserve something fun.

I've already seen an advert for Halo 3 on the TV here and it's not even out for like what? Another year?

Camisado, you echoed my sentiments exactly.

Halo 1 = Solid game, nothing to get excited about though.
Halo 2 = So bad, it made Halo 1 worse by proxy.

Well, since the Halo 3 multiplayer beta is supposed to be this month or something, and I have access, I guess I'll see :P

Play Halo on the PC and I think you'll come to the conclusion that yes Halo is overrated. It just doesn't measure up to some of the other PC fps games out there, it's still a fun game (on the Xbox / 360), but it's not really as groundbreaking as fan boys make it out to be.

Not anymore it's not. Halo one was correctly rated, Halo 2 was overrated, now there's little to no hype about the series at all.

I played halo 1 in pc and it was ok...Not sure 2 since i dident play at all..

Halo with good series line? Forget it, they care bout graphic/multiplayer more...
