Does anyone reckognize this book series?

About ten years ago, I read several books in a young adult mystery series. The sereis took place in the mid-to-late 50's and the mysteries usualy cantered around supernatural things. For example, in one, the hero had to find ancient jewish relics said to hold healing power. Has anyone heard of any such books?

The most I can remember (it was a LONG time ago) is that the main character lived with his grandparents and was young. I do remember that all of the stories dealt with the supernatural, and that the books conformed to all of the standard conventions. (Evil=blue candle flame for example)

The Hardy Boys never dealt with the supernatural.
