Display Map behind menu - Help

Hi I'm making A CMS for my game and i want to display the map behind the menu. The first place i saw this is on pokemon where the menu is on the right but the map remains in display. How can i add this effect to my menu? Please help.

@sprite = Sprite.new
@sprite = Spriteset_Map.new
#Put this with the other .disposes 
@sprite.dispose
