Anyone else upset and shocked over the loss of Ronnie James Dio this morning?
I called bullshit at first (same thing i did when MJ passed) and then about 4 hours later I found it was...true. I popped in some Dio years Black Sabbath today in honor.
I mean, I don't know who here is a metal fan or not, but Dio, IMO, was a legend. Always will be.
What do you think? Like metal? Did you prefer Ozzy over Dio? How do you feel about losing him?

I wasn't even aware of him dying to be fair... o.O

Although I'm gonna' guess it was some sort of drug fueled death, usually is in these cases, lol.

But yeah, I don't mind Dio's music, I mean Holy Diver is still a great song in my opinion, and I was amazed how my "at the moment favourite band" Killswitch Engage did a REALLY good cover of it (I don't care what the haters say, it was a damn good cover!)

I knew about it, he had a stomach cancer for at least 3 months now. I wasn't surprised when I saw the news (on metalstorm.net) but even if I was expecting this, it's still very sad. At least I had the chance to see him live in Montreal with Heaven And Hell!

He's kind of a pioneer in heavy metal music.

He was really clean, jBrist, in comparison to about every other band frontman of his time. He was true legend and total stand up guy. He was passionate, kind, and made wonderful music that will influence people for generations to come. He died to stomach cancer, peacefully, yet tragically. The whole of the music world I think has been rocked by such a loss.
RIP Elven King.

He was pretty cool and made a great singer for the band, sucks that he had to go. He never did surpass Ozzy in covering the song Paranoid, though.

At least he'll be going to Heaven and Hell. lol

Thanks for the Necropost. Gonna have to disagree with him never surpassing Ozzy...I feel Dio was true singer for Sabbath. He had a better vocal range and didn't need studio effects to sound good like Ozzy did.

I felt they both had they're own talents, but Ozzy couldn't sing what Dio sang and vice versa.
